Marianah Adkins Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I would even argue that Sorry felt bigger than Despacito. Now that's a Bieber single that everyone knows and is iconic. Its streaming numbers arent surprisingtm tho considering that we are in the middle of a streaming growth spurt + its a latin song so massive youtube views are assured.

A local hit to the internet This is honestly so laughable i know people on this forum don't get out much but this is taking it to the next level what planet do you live on if you think this song is only a thing on the internet lol

Despacito feels like your usual Beiber single that its so indistinguishable. I dont even think its a cultural phenomenon of sorts like Happy, Uptown Funk, Macarena was. Streaming really ****ed up the way hits are perceived and measured Nah, streaming measured whats more truly "popular"

I still believe that songs such as RitD and PRA (love or hate it) will remain bigger. Despacito will probably end up being bigger than Party Rock but not RITD PRA is like... super forgotten Edited June 20, 2017 by Divine

Meaning that there will be more songs in the future that can top or match Despacito simply by its numbers. It kinda reminded me back in '06 when everyone thought that Hips Dont Lie wss the biggest song of all time. Turns out, Umbrella, Apologize, Low, Bledding Love would soon match or even surpass it.

There is a reason there are variances between what's selling on itunes, what's streamed on spotify, and what's streamed on youtube. Edited June 20, 2017 by Gateau
LostInStereo100 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 THIS song truly has it though it feels so big name me another song that had this kind of lead on Billboard 6 months Into it’s run? not BL, Not STIUTK (although close) Not UF this song is going to destroy all of those

Have you forgotten about the diversity of languages that coexist in the United States and the world? Or that melodies can catch someone's attention regardless if you can't understand the lyrics? The ignorance some of you have believing that English is the only tongue spoken in the world makes me feel second hand embarrassment. Also, this isn't Beiber's song. It's Luis Fonsi's and Daddy Yankee's. Justin can't even sing it live and the song became a monster hit before he lend them his vocals (as stated in the article), so let's include their names when we address the success of the record. Thanks.
Frawls Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 What are these delusional posts? The song is massive and continues to grow. All my friends love it and blast it in the car, and radio is picking up really quick. This already smashed in Latin countries and Bieber pushed it to one of its hardest markets to break. A true monster of a track.

Pikachoo Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 whatever as long as it doesn't break Mariah's record.

skankle Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I wish it did this without Bieber tbh, his version is so awkward. But grats
Dingdong123 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Let it Go still remains the biggest song of the decade. Kids, teens, adults know that song!
frenchyisback Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I truly gave it a try multiple time and I was never able to finish that song. I just don't get it. And I luv latin music.
