Katy teases a massive upcoming tour. Taylor's wig unsafe.

And is the point not the exact same? Neither are successful in today's climate. Madonna is a far bigger name than Katy of course, and that's why she'll be able to do stadiums while Katy won't, but we're out here acting as if Katy is on the level of Selena Gomez or Rita Ora. Katy genuinely has 12 hits from 2008 to 2014 that will draw a crowd. People underestimate how important nostalgia is when it comes to touring. Look at the demand for acts like the sugababes, girls aloud and n-dubz. If they can do arenas, clearly so can Katy.

We need to be serious for a moment and realise that just bc Katy is making terrible personal and musical choices, people will still go to see her (unfortunately) live.

:clack:

Yes, she is really not on Selena Gomez level, since Selena has a bigger amount of streams than Katy and NEVER reached a low level like Katy's actual moment.

She's crazy if she's gonna put an big arena tour, the flop is really coming strong for her. She should try another Vegas residence since it's what could work for her and maybe some arena tour on LATAM

Her shows are always amazing. I was lucky enough to attend her Prism Tour and it was a really unique experience. Amazing production, great costumes, good arrangements. What's not to like...

I agree with others in here that she's most likely referring to the tour being extensive when she's calling it "massive".

All of her concerts tours to date have had 100+ shows iirc.

In streaming? Sure. But streaming success does not correlate to touring power. They're apples and oranges.

Compare the average gross of both of their last tours and you can quite easily see which one has the stronger touring power. Not to mention that we are now in a post-COVID touring state where nostalgia has heavily impacted the touring market and Katy's audience, frankly, will be fully driven by that nostalgia.

I understand people's very valid frustrations and more with Katy at the moment. I get being petty and dragging her for the kiis, but we can still be objective and admit that touring is the one area where she likely will still do decently well. She's not gonna have tour of the year or anything close, but arenas should be fine for her in this touring market.

I don't think she's really safe on touring area only based on nostalgia effect. She really tried HARD this with Woman's World and we all saw what happened. Nostalgia effect is not a garantee that is gonna work. We have more examples of it not working than otherwise.

Woman's World is a single, not a tour though. Again, those are very different things an do not correlate whatsoever.

Nowadays, you have so many acts who will never ever get a hit again (sort of like Katy) who were successful throughout the 00s, that have reached touring highs they never did during their actual career. Look at Girls Aloud's reunion tour. Or N-Dubz's reunion tour which sold out instantly. Look at Glastonbury; where nostalgic acts like Avril Lavigne and the Sugababes were drawing massive crowds while one of the biggest artists right now SZA was struggling to draw a crowd. Look at P!nk who is drawing 40,000+ crowds in stadiums within Europe while her last hit was What About Us. Musical success and touring success are worlds apart.

People certainly won't go to a Katy show to hear Woman's World. But the demand to hear and dance along to I Kissed a Girl, Teenage Dream and Last Friday Night shouldn't be underestimated.

You are talking about acts who were completely out of the holophotes and cameback with a big moment ALL based on nostalgia, just like RBD did on LATAM. It's not the case with Katy Perry, that even flopping everywhere, she was never out of the holophotes. Everyone was seeing her everyday on TV and Twitter. Nostalgia doesn't work like you're thinking.

If Jennifer Lopez of all people had her tour cancelled what makes Katy believe she's got a chance at touring?

She did alright in Vegas because most acts tend to do remotely well if they're not well established legends that can drive crowds in to their shows.

It'll be fun to watch this unfold nonetheless

Idk maybe if tickets arent crazy expensive I can see it doing well

I don't think she will be able to fill up arenas...she struggled to fill up theaters in Vegas...

At this point idk if she can do a theatre tour. I can see her doing "concert rooms" with like 500-600 people, at least in some countries.

Her best bet is to go on advertising, she can keep making money there, although royalties on TD and a couple more songs are probably enough for her to live a luxury life

She sold the rights, so no royalties for her. She stays losing!

I can't think of anyone who says out loud they're a Katy Perry fan. She hasn't made good music since Teenage Dream.

i mean, if even the witness tour did well this will too

yes the current era may be hated by the gays, but the general public are probably just entirely unaware of it and will still buy tickets for nostalgic reasons

Yeah, but you need demand to do 100+ shows.

I am sure there are certain parts of the world where she'll be able to sell out, but ultimately it'll be another bomb and another nail in her already nail-filled coffin.

At this rate even Madonna is doing better than Katy overall in sales, Popular was a bigger hit than anything Katy released since NRO in 2019; and Madame X sold more units than Smile.

Even FEL which is a GH compilation of remixes hit #1 in 5 countries, #3 in the UK and Gold cert there (100k) and has better peaks than Smile (a studio album promoted with videos and singles).

And TCT outsold the Witness Tour by $100M so she's not in the league of Madonna now even when M is not at her peak.

People just not like her new songs, but they still listen her old songs. Depending on the tour promo I think she still can tour arenas

In order to do a proper tour (even a GH), a popgirl needs a sizable fanbase.

Katy has relied on the GP too much.
