The album was made by millennials, for a millennial audience, inspired by millennials, about a 32 year old millennial woman sharing her millennial experiences. Then Gen Z comes in and starts making TikTok dances to everything I love to dog on millennials but you kinda spilled. Charli and ag cook are cool millennials though, they have their finger on the popular zeitgeist but every other popular artist rn is gen z(Chappell, Sabrina, Billie)

formlessminutiae Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I think I just hate the tiktok trends tbh. It has more to do with me being contrarian than the album souring! I am NOT having a brat summer

Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Yes, it feels extremely camp and at times very cabaret, almost in a TikTok-like way. The production is solid, but I'm not impressed with Charli's delivery and execution. It doesn't help that this brat persona has been overdone by artists like Miley, Pink, and Xtina. However, it does highlight how the gay and trans community gravitates towards anything that hints at hyper pop
Phaunzie Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Well I got hate for saying the novelty of it died the moment Kamala and NGeo joined in. The music is okay, I would rather listen to the Millionaires EP as Brat only has two songs I really like 365 and SPring Breakers. Guess with Billie Ellishs was a horrible decision, that song is just yawn. 360 is a pretty boring song comapred to the rest of the album and Von Dutch gives me nothing. Like Up In My Bubble and this song are more engaging than Brat musically. To all the people that said it was a 10/10, get your ears checked it is a 7/10 at best. The era itself was successful but only because people found it ironic and a meme hence why all these mature folk are hoping on the trend. However I guess this new news means the death of the BRAT trend is imminent.

Fanbases of niche acts do this all the time when their fav starts getting more mainstream attention and success, even when it's organic. It's corny. Maybe the world just finally caught up with Charli after them just knowing her as the boom clap girl. Edited August 2 by Soda Pop Queen

Long overdue and so well deserved. Exactly this. Who cares if charli becomes mainstream. At least she did it with one of her best albums and it's an organic success 1

Pendulum Posted August 2 Posted August 2 After it got appropriated by the straights and the definition was muffled by the poppers gays, yes, kinda

There are plenty of europop/hyper-pop classics from the early 2010s. Honestly the LGBTQ+ community will eat up any little beat Edited August 2 by Wonbin 1

Orsay Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) The fact that she was able to retain most or all of her cool factor after a Pokemon Go-to-the-polls level memeification event tells me she can probably withstand anything this era.. actually miraculous Edited August 2 by Orsay

alexrex Posted August 2 Posted August 2 It's Charli's magnum opus It encapsulates her artistry, and it clicked with today's audience. It's culturally relevant today Plus it's very well produced and structured The GP oversharing it can be annoying tho

Khal Posted August 2 Posted August 2 From the start. Even worse now that corporations have co-opted it.
Badgalbriel Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Nope. I love the exposure it's getting. If it was not for TikTok I wouldn't have discovered Apple and then, I wouldn't have given the album a second chance. Cause on my first listen, I gave up on the album as soon as that mess Club Classics started playing. Thanks to TikTok, I listened to the album in full and love it now.
Big Bad Wolf Posted August 2 Posted August 2 No, it's just been pierced by the media and GP. I think it's somewhat a little sad as someone who's followed Charli since TR, like I'm so happy she is finally seeing the mainstream success and recognition that she deserves but I miss her being this fringe alternative pop artist. Again I'm so happy for her, she deserves this, and it just goes to show when artists let go and just do what they want to do and create, good things will happen. She was so miserable during Crash making an album she thought she had to make and with Brat it really feels like she let go and just did what felt correct and I'm glad it payed off. This is her best album.
no_better Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I don't think it was ever cringeworthy but we lost its essence/oomph a little bit when Kamala Harris got bratified but now we are so back with Guess featuring Billie Eilish
