brokee Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Style getting #1 was unexpected but not mad at that Cruel summer passing cardigan is kind of crazy even though from one spot. Guilty as Sin is definitely the best song or the top 3 from TTPD so it rightfully deserves the spot. I can see it making the top 10 in the future.
brokee Posted September 10 Posted September 10 @Forever Winter Thank you for hosting and taking the time to do the discography rating with a beautiful presentation. You did a pretty good job with that 1
pavi Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Reading the last few pages leading up to Style winning was hilarious Style is one of my favourite Taylor songs EVER, but for it to win totally caught me off guard The top 20 was so messy, too. What's tis the damn season doing up this high? Why do so many people love cardigan when there's so many better songs on folklore? How is Long Live not even close when Cruel Summer is this high? Questions! All Too Well will always be my winner tbh Thank you soooo much for hosting this rate! It must have been so much work but it was so fun 1

RihannaLoverrr Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Shook 'Style' won, would never have predicted that! & yes @Forever Winter thanks for the fun/messy rate! Haunted shall prosper on the next one 1 1

Anyway wish I participated but Im not super familiar with her first 3 albums. Sad to see Castles Crumbling, Vigilante ****, The Archer, Only The Young, New Years Day and Mastermind so low!

Maybe we did something here I've seen the question asked earlier (I think that's what was asked, otherwise that was still interesting to see, and since I had some time I compiled the list of the lowest and highest song from each album album - lowest position - highest position - difference Lover - #258 ME! - #5 Cruel Summer - 253 Red - #249 Run - #2 All Too Well - 247 Fearless - #235 Superstar - #10 You Belong With Me - 225 1989 - #226 Suburban Legends - #1 Style - 225 THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT - #242 thanK you aIMee - #19 Guilty As Sin? - 223 reputation - #233 This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things - #11 Getaway Car - 222 Speak Now - #221 Superman - #3 Enchanted - 218 Midnights - #227 Vigilante S*** - #25 Would've Could've Should've - 202 Taylor Swift - #253 A Perfectly Good Heart - #53 Our Song - 200 evermore - #178 closure - #13 tolerate it - 165 folklore - #156 Epiphany - #4 August - 152 I like this one because I think it reflects her albums from least to most consistent (though 1989 takes a significant hit because of its vault, while Stay Stay Stay was right after Run in the rate). 9
Terylee Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Not the best results, but could also be so much worse. Thank you, for hosting @Forever Winter!!!! Great job! 1
roso Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Thank you for your hard work @Forever Winter, these results were very... unexpected (but fun) I'd be interested to know which songs won during prior rates, anyone has a complete list? 1
Cruel Summer Posted September 10 Posted September 10 1 hour ago, Klein said: I like this one because I think it reflects her albums from least to most consistent (though 1989 takes a significant hit because of its vault, while Stay Stay Stay was right after Run in the rate). This kind of thing will always be funny to me because from day one I always thought the 1989 vault was the most consistently high-quality vault so far, and I say this as someone who absolutely reveres tracks like Better Man and Nothing New. But maybe I'm biased because 1989's vault tracks are, from a sonic perspective, pretty much entirely from the branch of the OOTW family that started with The Archer. 3

State of Grace is anthemic to me. Right from the start, the driving drums and guitars give it this huge, soaring energy that's perfect for the emotions she's singing about. It's the perfect opening track for an album as thematically messy and diverse as Red. It speaks of love as both a battle and a sanctuary, something so powerful yet so fragile. When I hear this song, I'm reminded of Taylor at her very best artistically: passionate, introspective, deeply relatable yet uniquely in her element. If this song isn't in the top 5, we need the host to doxx everyone who gave it anything below 9.5. Thanks! :ryan3:" frankvert 11 - "This is her magnum opus as far as I'm concerned." Bussea 11 - "THIS is how you open an album." holyground13 10 - "One of my favourite Taylor songs and a sound I think would be great for her to expand on. it sounds timeless and evergreen." greento 10 - "She REALLY needs to do more stuff like this. Incredible lyrically, vocally and instrumentally. Really wish I could give this an 11 but some of my other 11s needed the help more." Forever Winter 10 - "Too many amazing things about this song to list out. Her BEST opener and it's not close. I think even she herself knows that she won't top this as a Track 1. I slightly prefer the original because of her baby vocals and the raw emotion. I've been a Swiftie since Fearless, but I became a *stan* stan during Red. When I heard this song up until All Too Well, I knew I was going to stan her for life." pinkbowvintage 10 - "A literal perfect album opener." reputation1989 10 - "Kicking off the best start to an album of all time." Ampersand13 10 - "Perhaps my favorite Taylor opening sitting right nex to RFI (and perhaps Fortnight but more on that later.) State of Grace does a masterful job setting the scene for its parent album. Big drums, anthemic chorus, and dictating conflicting feelings of what one needs and what one wants really helps to establish this theme of dichotomy present throughout Red. It's also one of my favorite Taylor vocal performances demonstrating her ability to make pop/rock sound fresh, captivating, and powerful. On another note, I think it inadvertantly works really nicely as a bridge from Speak Now to Red. It's not quite as poppy as the Max tracks, but not quite as country or youthful as songs like Sparks Fly or Mine. An absolute battle cry for those craving connection in a world that all too often prioritizes ephemeral and transactional experiences." Achilles. 10 - "Both versions are TENS." wastedpotential 10 - "No see, I start this song and I'm IMMEDIATELY walking down Madison Avenue in a perfectly tailored suit from Milan heading into my office at a big name advertising company, where I get to knock heads together and be an absolute menace of a boss. Granted, right now I work in a shitty office in the suburbs modeling wheat yields but I'm on the verge of quitting and finding a new job (again ddd). Basically... I have mental Devil Wears Prada montages every time I hear this that pull me out of my rather mundane life now. The Whitnification of the New Testament vocals here, it literally blows my hair back and sweeps me off my feet, She'd clearly recently re-upped Her illuminati contract or something, because they just never let up. If y'all have ever seen that meme of Squidward getting thrown through the spiked steamroller wheels, that's how I feel whilst and immediately after listening to this song. It's been what, 12 years, and I still couldn't really tell you what it's about because I am literally incapable of listening to the lyrics because I'm too ******* busy having a ******* hot rich NYC girl moment. This is Carrie Bradshaw's favorite Lord Hmyn, you absolutely cannot tell me otherwise." Where are you now? 9.1 - "Timeless masterpiece. Seven singles from RED OG and this wasn't one of them???" Nein 9 - "Dare I say her best opener..." Holy Ground 9 - "Just rating the normal song. The acoustic version is such a snoozefest. I boycott the song when driving to protect everyone else's lives, because I would defnitely fall asleep at the wheel." blown away 8.6 - "A great, rousing song. It takes a few listens to appreciate though." Rev8 2 - "Kings of Leon vibes. :eli:" sparrowblue 1 - "I like how mosaic was used." My Tears Ricochet 0 - "This song is a solid 6 at best, but I'm gonna give it a zero because of how overrated it is within the fanbase. It's a long, drawn-out song with a basic melody, and her use of clichés and metaphors comes off as tryhard. So it deserves nothing more than a zero. Seethe swifties!!" Excuse me not to be disrespectful or rude but I definitely gave SOG an 11, not a 9. Still catching up

I will say I'm truly disheartened by Fearless's placement on that list, but I guess that's what is to be expected from this website. The way that you could swap Fearless with Reputation (and then also folklore with evermore and maybe move Red up) and you'd basically have my list 1

Well tbh it's just Suburban Legends. The next 1989 song was Welcome To New York at #194, which makes a 193 spots difference between the lowest and highest, and that would put it right below folklore and evermore. It's literally just Suburban Legends. 1

I usually was not posting so much towards the end of each round cause I was slowly falling asleep (and thank god I didn't cause I displayed enough no-life behaviour considering I'm in the top posters ), but I was reading through everything. Your teasing were at time so messy and I was living for it. Congrats once again for this amazing rate. 4

JasonGosling Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I really had a great time with this game, reading the comments and witnessing the reactions from fans. Unfortunately, I could not submit mine as it was past the deadline. But for sure I will take part next year (the outcome will, therefore, be better :D ) Thanks @Forever Winter for organising this. @wastedpotential , thanks for your awesome comments per song. I had a good laugh. Btw, I created a playlist for this year's top 100 in case you're interested https://open.spotify.com/playlist/51Cbz6ZJUK4XSGt1RiUbRp?si=bf71d3aae2b84787 1 2 1

greento Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) overall pretty good results Treacherous making top 30 is amazing Love Story is way better than YBWM so slight shame that it was beaten by it Style is such a perfect winner i wish i was able to follow along live, but i missed too much and i couldn't bare to deal with the servers thank you for hosting this @Forever Winter, i can't imagine how much time and effort this took! hosting rates with less than 100 songs is hard enough, so i can appreciate how long this would have taken looking forward to next year's instalment Edited September 10 by greento 1
