I listened to it so much that summer that it's a bit bittersweet now." Ampersand13 10 - "A strong contender for one of my 11s. It's one of the individual Folklore tracks I've found myself seeking out this summer. I have a lot of emotions regarding this album that largely have nothing to do with the music itself but the context of when it was released. Sometimes it makes it difficult for me to appreciate Folklore the way that I used to because it draws out a lot of memories. Seven, however, continues to be a shining light that provides perpetual comfort. I adore the numerous vocal melodies and how it doesn't adhere to an expected or predetermined structure. It parallels the meandering bliss of youth." By the Water 10 - "This is kinda the song that represents folklore to me." Forever Winter 10 - Top 2 on folklore after cardigod and not appreciated enough by the fandom. I love how in this song and other songs on folklore/evermore, you get lost in the long instrumental breakdowns/outros. seven, august, and cowboy like me are good examples of that. Bosque 10 - "Beautiful." sparrowblue 10 - "This song captures youth and innocence really well." Achilles. 10 - "The cornerstone of the "nostalgia" aspect of this album." wastedpotential 9.7 - "I really adore what She did with this on the original Eras setlist, because this really does feel like a poem or a folk tale that was given a melody and put over a lovely little track. This is such a beautiful tribute to innocence and innocence lost. "Please picture me in the weeds, before I learned civility/I used to scream ferociously, any time I wanted" is calling out to me at the moment, and I've always had love for the "sweet tea in the summer" motif just because it does reflect a really core (and forgotten) part of the summers of my childhood. One final note, I really love how the instrumentation here, the rusticness and the rough acousticness, reflects the homeliness. This is the kind of song that your great grandparents would've sung together with one of them playing piano and the other just slapping their thigh to get a bit of rhythm in the larger of the two rooms in their quiet farmhouse. I get incredibly vivid images of very specific places from my childhood when I listen to this song (I think of the floor of the porch of the small ranch where my godparents live), and it always hits me in exactly the right emotional spot to choke me up." Where are you now? 9.4 - "'Please picture me in the weeds before I learned civility.' Who are you?!" SLUTTVFTV 9.2 - "Makes me cry all the time. :(" blown away 7.7 - "Love the dreamy production." NewStanner 7 - "I'm not even giving this score for the sake of a pun, it's literally exactly how I feel about this song - pretty good, but that's about it." Dear Reader Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Now, I'll say this, I was kinda mad for how dirty y'all did TTPD (specially I Hate It Here, loml, The Prophecy and The Black Dog), but I believe we're really the funniest base. The amount of times I laughed with people talking **** about my favorite songs this has actually been pretty fun! 1 1 5

Klein Posted September 7 Posted September 7 1 minute ago, wastedpotential said: I thought CLM had a shot at winning this I'm starting top think Blank Space will be the one winning. Enchanted, All Too Well or cardigan will all be sabotaged for already winning. Love Story will be too. I fear Blank Space will be the only song no one sabotaged because it's always highly rated but never treated like "the best" but in this situation, it might be the winner. 1
Velvet Night Posted September 7 Posted September 7 It seems like now we're eliminating all of my favs!
holyground13 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 The chorus after "And just like a folk song our love will be passed on" when the drums come in is UNREAL. So ethereal. One of her best vocal works ever. Deserved top 20 for that alone. 11
