Dear Reader Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Jack haters kind of need to be studied just as much as Taylor haters. Both deranged you see his name in the credits and you automatically dislike the song. 11

The lyrics, the production—everything works so well here. I will always be a Maroon stan." Vespertine 11 - "RIP Kaylor." wastedpotential 10 - "Here lies a true contender for one of my 11 slots. As surprising as it may be for some of y'all to learn given just how much I have made adoring this hymn a part of my personality, it took me a while to get into this hymn. It was a real "you're not gonna get this song the first time you hear it. After the second and third time, you're gonna be like woah, what is this? It's nothing like anything that's out right now, um, you know, it- its, the lyrics are very, um-" experience for me. One day I was going for a hot girl walk around my neighborhood when I felt the compulsion to listen to nothing but Maroon over and over and over and over and over, and by the time I got back it was my favorite hymn on the album, a title it still holds. There's so much power and grace to the instrumental, so much sadness and loss in the lyrics, so much talent in the hymn. If I had to convince an alien that Lord was the greatest musical act of all time, I'd play this hymn for them, because I know they would understand. OJackAntonoffH, when you go in on that man for his work on like Don't You or whatever, you're also going in on him for his work here, which is shameful. You don't have to like everything he's made, but disparaging his work with a broad brush stroke just makes you look uninformed." Ampersand13 10 - "10 - This is an 11 and I fully admit that the only reason I didn't give it one was because I ran out of them. However, this song rivals Style, Delicate, and Cowboy Like Me as personal favorites. There's not a single time in which those opening synths don't enrapture and envelop me. I'm suddenly in New York on a cloudy day observing the rise and fall of a love-drunk tryst. Remarkably evocative, doused in poetic physical imagery, haunting lyrics, and complete with a chorus vocal that perfectly reflects the spiral of a person whose mind struggles to comprehend how something effervescent turned ephemeral. I'll never recover from this song and I'll never stop loving it. Just a gorgeous and moody haze of love lost." frankvert 10 - "Would've been an 11 if I had more to give." Miles. 10 - "I LOVE this and I was about to give it an 11 when I remembered I had to save one for WAOLOM. Just know this is an honorary 11. The chorus with like 7 different shades of red mentioned is so brilliant. That's a real ******* legacy is a perfect, powerful, PUNCHING use of the F bomb. Masterpiece." Where are you now? 10 - "All the burgundy, wine, blood, scarlet, rust, maroon color references are magical. Love on the second chorus when she sings "t-shirt" and the "collarbone" on a different note." SLUTTVFTV 9.5 - "One of the few gems on Midnights, this is where the moody synth-pop really works." Starchild 8 - "Her rap game is strong here, end fame who?" blown away 5.5 - "It's okay." Achilles. 4 - "Overrated and kinda bland, but great bridge." Brooklyn Baby Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 For the next reveal, an opener makes its exit.
holyground13 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I'm behind a few pages but just to say on yesterday's result: I had no idea that some songs were so popular in the fandom: These are so mid to me: The Way I Loved You Death By A Thousand Cuts Midnight Rain Better Man is a cute girl but not stunning to me. I had no idea she was so loved. I also like Forever Winter but I didn't think she was a top 100 girlie (sorry rate host). Maybe I need to listen to the demo which I've never heard.
