Starchild

10 -  "This underrated sexual hymn!"

Klein

10 - "The masterpiece of Lover. He (yes, Lover is a man because it's mid as hell, borderline bad. this can't be a female) didn't get many, so #ThankYouFalseGod."

wastedpotential

10 - "And now, right after that tender and touching ballad about a sick parent, here's the song about getting eaten the **** out! I won't give Hobo many complements these days, but I've always thought he had a rather wide tongue. I don't think I need more Lord hymns in this sonic realm, but I think She nailed this so well, I can just continue to return to it without ever burning out. I loved the SNL performance and ESPECIALLY the Eras performances on the piano, you girls got LUCKY to see this live."

Forever Winter

9 - "We need a FULL album with these sounds. :jonny:"

Achilles.

9 - "Second-best song on the album, inexplicably underrated."

By the Water

9 - "Dress wishes."

Where are you now?

8.3 - "More proof that blondie can successfully dapple in other subgenres. No ATRL, her music doesn't all sound the same and is actually incredibly diverse."

SLUTTVFTV

8 - "Song about my dying mom, ohhh and then song about hot sex!!"

Rev8

7.8 - "Bonus points for the saxophone. Something new."

Edge of Glory

7.5 - "Janet Jackson's daughter here; home water birth. no epidural. no c-section. Even the midwife was gagging."

blown away

3.2 - "It doesn't excite me at all. Should've been an interlude."

I was so cruel to this one, I went back and revised most of my Genesis scores but I guess not this one oh I am so sad

Me too, I am very ashamed of the score and comment I gave this. It's a 7 at least.

I leave for 30 MINUTES, and y'all do THAT AND eliminate Teardrops on My guitar? We're never beating the tasteless fandom allegations. I feel betrayed

If I rigged it, it would be almost all songs from folklore, evermore, red and speak now in the top 50.

Spoiler

woalom, tsmwel, icdiwabh, and bdilh would be in the bottom 40

Achilles.

10 - "I am such a sucker for a soulmates concept."

Where are you now?

9.6 - "Ahhhh, the imagery in this song, reminds me of a painting. How are there so many stellar songs on one's 8th album?"

SLUTTVFTV

9 - "Pretending this isn't about J*E."

Starchild

9 - "I've already integrated it into my own life so I'm not letting toejam affect my score tf."

wastedpotential

8.8 - "I do like this hymn quite a lot, but I simply have to laugh at what She sees as these grand invisible strings woven between Her life and Hobo's life, because they're basically nonsensical and don't hold up to scrutiny whatsoever beyond "oh, She was really having to hunt for connections to make this song concept work". Going chronologically through the song: A) She liked to sit on green grass and he wore a teal shirt in the shop where he worked when he was younger, B) he took a trip to LA in the summer of 2015 (pre-Billy Lynn stuff), and managed to catch Bad Blood, one of the biggest hits on the radio, and a song that spent every single week of that summer in KIIS-FM's power rotation, on the radio. I'd have been more shocked if he HADN'T heard Bad Blood at some point on that trip, but I know he told Lord that and She got really excited, and that's probably what spurred Her to write this drivel. C) He ate at her favorite dinner restaurant in LA - this is the strongest "string" here, and it's probably conditional on him staying in a hotel in Beverly Hills and scrolling through Yelp reviews like She did when picking a restaurant. D) Three years after they got together, a waitress in the Lakes District said she looked like Taylor Swift (ClaraBow.mp3 tease). Okay... that's not a string, that's a waitress who needs to visit the eye doctor. After that, what, we get the admittedly cool bridge (I am a sucker for a gimmick, and going through the various strung materials and turning them into lyrics was quite clever), a reference to Sophie Turner and *** *****'s child, and a nice little bow on top from Lord about their trip together to Centennial Park, where the grass is green. Whoop-dee-*******-doo."

blown away

7.4 - "I love the plucky production."
