The Bad Blood mashup on Rep Tour was everything and more. I wish we get this mashup in high quality audio sometime, I would eat it up." Miles. 10 - "Best song on the (standard) album." Achilles. 10 - "A classic, a smash, a moment in history." 1989 9.3 - "The live versions with the key change live rent-free in my head." wastedpotential 9.1 - "One of the few socially acceptable Genesis songs to publicly enjoy these days, and for good reason. Every single word was chosen intentionally, every single phrase was balanced and designed in contrast to the others, it was engineered in a Max Martin-esque laboratory. She's tied this man to a tree and is now cutting strips out of his back with these eviscerations (the way she sings "Was she worth it? Was she worth this? No." is just so emotionally biting, she'd better not **** up the Whitney's Version). I love the little melodic changes at the end of the second verse, and all of the transitions from verse -> pre chorus -> chorus are all just immaculate. The Reputation Swiftism Conversion Tour mashup of this with Bad Blood was a stroke of genius (but I guess that's par for the course from Taylor). This would've been a smash crossover, and it still baffles me that Lord and Her team was about to ship this to mainstream radio before pulling it at the last second, several months before Love Story. I fear a crossover push would've driven another million sales for Genesis, which would've pushed it up into the top 10 best selling albums of the 2000s, so it was a bit of a fumble (and given that this was when it was peaking in sales, might've actually driven it into the top 3 or even to #1 on the BB200). Still, I have a feeling this is going to do quite well when the new Testament comes out, because it's country nostalgia, but it's not too country and is very accessible. I know I've told y'all the story about my mom making me listen to this every day because she wanted it to inspire me to be able to say no to drugs if someone ever offered them to me. I still think about serious conversations where she showed me before and after pictures of meth addicts when I listen to this song nnnnn." Starchild 9 - "A prophetic queen like always (Dear John, Would've, Could've, Should've) and I Iove this song." Lorenzo22 8.4 - "The chorus carries but wdgaf." Rev8 7 - "Potential Avril song (without the banjo)." By the Water 6 - "This song is so good I used to think it was from Fearless." blown away 5 - "It's listenable, I will say that."
