The best thing about Bad Blood is that Lord destroyed Katy by writing a song as badly written as a Katy Perry song.

greento

10 - "Way too overhated, but I do see why. There's just something about it that I've always loved from that first time I listened to the Midnights leak."

LoveInStereo

10 - "Such a quirky & underrated song. It's like a Rorschach ink blot, the listener has to interpret & derive their own meaning from it. Very unusual and striking."

1989

9.2 - "Unfairly hated. This is such a fun listen to me."

SLUTTVFTV

7.6 - "Always on the fence about this song, it kinda goes off but the lyrics are just cringe and the talk-singing doesn't always work."

Where are you now?

7.2 - "The clapping and cheering on chorus 3 is bothersome. Song is hard to relate to. Still like it tho."

Bosque

7 - "It is kinda of catchy and she is such a troll for that long-winded 'question.'"

wastedpotential

6.5 - "Purely technically, this is a pleasant listen, but I don't think it ever gets past its discordant parts. The Out Of The Woods references are well done, as are some of the lyrics, I'm personally quite fond of "Cause I don't remember who I was before you painted all my nights a color I've searched for since", but that's immediately followed up with the "fuckin situations" lyric, which brings me right back down to the 6.5 I want to give this in spite of the good. I hate everything about the chorus (aside from the aforemetioned Out Of The Woods callback). I think this should've followed the Delicate blueprint and had the major percussive element enter at the start of the second verse, rather than the second chorus as it does now, because the longer slower section makes the song feel far longer than it is. All that's to say, I'm quite surprised ther Larry beardism relationship was apparently so emotionally impactful that She felt the need to revisit it and write about it (and that even now, Calvin doesn't warrant a song nnn). I just wish this was better, I think there's a lot of potential. ALSO, can someone please take away Her ability to punctuate Her song titles? I'm ******* over all the ...'s and ?'s and "'s, and sooner or later we'll get something with a $ in the place of an s for a giggle, and I'm a song titles purist. I barely got over lowercase folk/more song titles and I de-capitalized the TTPD title on Apple Music, and I might just snap and remove the fuckass ...? from this song's title."

Edge of Glory

6 - "Not an amazing song, but I kiki when it comes on, and sometimes thats all you need!"

Achilles.

4 - "Sometimes Taylor Swift's pop songs are good, and sometimes they are Question…?"

blown away

3 - "Shouldn't have been on the standard edition of Midnights. It sounds like a leftover track."

By the Water

1 - "What even is the point of this song?"

Forever Winter

0 - "LAZY and annoying melodies, ruins the great track run from Lavender Haze to Midnight Rain. I hate how this song was probably inspired by the 1989 vault or vice versa. ATROCITIES!"

Nein

0 - "I hate this song with a burning passion. I hate this stupid sing-talking ****."

Bosque

10 - "Y'all are WRONG for ignoring this euphoric bop."

greento

9.1 - "The prechorus and outro on this one are really good, not sure why it gets so much hate."

Achilles.

9 - "Conceptually between I Know Places and I Hate It Here, geographically halfway between Earth and Heaven. Can name many pop stars who have never released a song this good in their entire careers."

LoveInStereo

7.9 - "Goofy at first glance but when you really break down the lyrics, there's a lot of interesting commentary about opting out of private life to take care of her relationship that's very subtle & creative."

SLUTTVFTV

7.7 - "Hmmm. This almost falls into the So High School effect where the lyrics are cringy but it's cute so you can get over it, however it misses the mark a bit, and some of these lyrics are just unforgivable."

Where are you now?

7.1 - "A slight bop I suppose but majorly tune out the bleep bloop lyrics."

KillingYourCareer

6.5 - "I feel like this was composed circa 2016-2017. It sounds like something The Chainsmokers would've recorded, it's such a throwback vibe! :dies:"

wastedpotential

6.4 - "The only part of this song that I really like is the first verse, because Lord really showed off a spot of wit and levity there, but basically nothing else here captures me. The pre into the chorus rings very hollow with me. That second verse... does not sit right with me from a 2024 perspective, but you know what that's fine. This is fun and enjoyable and I know She had a fun time playing it in Paris this year, and I know She'll have fun making several crowds of 90,000 scream it back to Her next time She plays shows in Paris at the Stade de France."

Starchild

6 - "Thanks for reminding me how poor I am Taylor (I'm joking in case anyone thinks I'm being serious ☠️)."

Forever Winter

3 - "'Like we were in Paris... We were... somewhere else.' Blondie couldn't find another phrase to rhyme with the word "Paris"? Also, that shade under a tree line... This could've been left in the drafts."

blown away

1 - "Not for me."

9 - "Kendrick version tanked"

Miles.

9 - "Kendrick Lamar version. Original is an 8."

Where are you now?

9 - " Yeah the lyrics are nothing magnificent but it's so incredibly catchy that it doesn't matter. Some of her best 3rd/final chrous ad libs to exist. In time have preferred Kendrick remix to the album cut."

kyungsoowift

8 - "I'm generous so count the Kendrick one."

wastedpotential

7.1 - "Welcome to your tape, Katheryn Hudson. You don't know it yet, but your career is about to die! I feel like I have to justify liking this song more than I'll have to justify any other pick on this list, and I don't even like this song thaaaat much, but here goes. Bad Blood is a good enough song, and certainly accomplishes the task it set out to do with ease. The instrumental is far too plink-plonky for my tastes (the remix helps, but adds its own host of problems), Lord's vocals are shouty, and the lyrics are pretty ******* flimsy ("you made a really cu-uh-ut" turning into as many syllables as it did is just lazy, I'm sorry). However, at the exact same time, this song is pulling down its pants, squatting down, and taking a GIANT dump at the foot of a tombstone marked "Here Lies The Career Of Katy Perry (2008-2013)", with a subheading of "Nine #1s, Tied MJ, nostalgia-bait to the max, several diamond singles". We can't solely attribute the fall of Katy's career to this song (it was probably an inevitability with or without this song), but there aren't many former music industry titans whose career downfalls can be laid at the feet of ONE song from their enemy. I think in another world there was a diss track battle, but Bad Blood being as huge as it was (even if it's not especially... cutting), and then Swish Swish pulling a #46-OUT essentially killed any potential for that. Whether people will admit it or not, this was the "Not Like Us" of the 2010s. Besides, this goes OFF at the gym, I always feel so hot and powerful blasting this through my airpods loud enough so everyone else can hear while I'm lifting (because I AM obnoxious that way (actually because I have crippling gym anxiety and will only go if it's literally empty so there's no one to bother, but I hope I made you mad for a second nnn)). The Should've Said No x Bad Blood megasmash crossover event of the century, is proof of Lord's mastermindedness, because I'm still singing them both together in the shower after all these years. I know Katy's therapist had these lyrics printed out at some point, and that really just makes it so enjoyable ddddd. I know some of y'all are too good to admit it, but punching down at a deserving victim can be a good time! I rest my case."

MusicLoverDude

7 - "Kendrick brought the fire on the remix along with the production but this was still a letdown."

Edge of Glory

6.5 - "Shake It Off video accused of cultural appropriation, style not reaching #1 after sio/bs, fake white feminist allegations starting to build...she had one chance to kill katy perry and she took it."

Forever Winter

6.5 - "1989 original album is truly skipless. Even Bad Blood."

By the Water

4.5 - "The remix kinda saves this song."

1989

1 - "Kendrick did not save this one. Only dud on 1989 for me."

freakum.

1 - "1 for Kendrick's verse."

sparrowblue

1 - " Not even Kendrick helped."

Bussea

1 - "Kendrick actually made the song better but no xx."

Achilles.

1 - "I am so tired of this song."
