On both versions she absolutely butchers (like four year old with safety scissors making some homemade bangs) "I'll do anything to see it through" going into the first chorus. She did that note so dirty, I hope she feels bad. I don't understand what this song is about except that her and her label and her band mates are being oppressed and are on the precipice of fomenting revolution? One that requires her to invoke a hallelujah? What kind of revolution, Taylor? Was she about to march through the streets of Nashville burning record label HQs on Abortchetta's command? Was awful-hair Grant supposed to snipe a rival label boss? Are we toppling the evil capitalists? Or are we attempting a putsch? Was this a declaration of civil war against George Bush? Should we have a party? Should we invite Bella Hadid? This is Taylor's lyrically most offensive song in a… Katy Perry Part Of Me/Kelly Clarkson Stronger kind of way, where somehow the antagonist of the song is this literal movie villain they're fighting against? Babe, you just went on an arena tour, you aren't cornered and you aren't outnumbered and you aren't fighting anyone, please put the shotgun down! On the other hand, that hallelujah choir performance arm hair gif is an absolute, stone cold classic. I think it's burned into my eyelids at this point, I've seen and used it so many times. Change is a cute girl, she got the big glow up with the TV. I would've definitely eliminated some others over it, but I also am fine with it not making the top 200.

Change is kind of a snoozefest to me. Deserved lower :intoit:

11 - "This 11 is for the OTTPDHs, crazy how 2 lines in a 5 minute song can make someone absolutely hate it. I personally don't mind, the title track is the centerpiece of the album alongside The Prophecy, with amazing songwriting and a catchy 80s production on top of that."

10 - "The unsophisticated gays don't even know who Dylan Thomas is please, not everyone's vote should count. 😭"

LoveInStereo

9.9 - "Love how the sound is so timeless but the lyrics are so hyper specific and modern. Another song people often misunderstand. If you get it, you get it."

greento

9.8 - "No one gets this song like I do. The outro is *chefs kiss.*"

Peroxide

9 - "An excellent pop song. Big Fleetwood Mac vibes… no idea why it's become something of a punching bag."

pinkbowvintage

8.5 - "A misunderstood bop that sounds like sparkling radiant sunshine."

Where are you now?

8.3 - "The seven bars of chocolate line really isn't that bad, THOTS. You're cherry-picking from probably over 1,000 different lyrics from the album. Sad that a few lines from this song is all you have in life."

Lazuli

8 - "Y'all are dumb to hate on this song just cuz of that Charlie Puth line."

1989

7.3 - "This one had to grow on me. It's still a bit of a mess lyrically, but the production kind of eats."

7 - "Conflicting, because see, I actually love the tattooed golden retriever line, and the typewriter line, but overall it's just too messy."

SLUTTVFTV

7 - "If this song didn't exist there'd be way less discourse on the album."

wastedpotential

6.8 - "-1.2 for the words "tattooed golden retriever", because from time to time I AM a trend follower. However, I came across some stems from this on Twitter that were of Heavenly quality, and I must levy a curse at Jack for burying them so deeply in the mix."

kyungsoowift

6 - "One of my least fav on TTPD sorry."

blown away

4 - "Very uninspired song."

Achilles.

3 - "The Charlie Puth verse is bad but the whole bridge (namedropping! suicidal for each other! the rings!) is far worse. Other bits of the song are genuinely good, though."

BOAZ

1 - "I can't stand this."

Forever Winter

1 - "This is Taylor and Jack on autopilot and the well has been run dry. If this was placed lower on the tracklist, I think TTPD as an album would get less hate. This song is just awful. And NO it is NOT just one line we hate. From the Charlie Puth line to the tattooed golden retriever line to the ridiculous lyrics in the bridge, there is a lot to drag. Jack also needs to keep these Bleachers-sounding productions AWAY from Taylor."

frankvert

0 - "Saved my last 0 for the title track of TS's worst album to date. Only listened to 5 of the 31 songs multiple times, truly unlistenable for me."

My Tears Ricochet

0 - "Sonically, it's fine, but the lyrics - oh GOD!!. From the seven bars of chocolate and Charlie Puth reference to the tattooed golden retriever and middle finger ring lines, it makes me scream every time. I still wonder if she really wrote those lines, read them over, and thought, 'Ooh, look at how I ate that.'"
