Forever Winter 8 - "One of my surprise songs for my first show, Seattle N2. I was one of the only ones in my section who knew the lyrics." pinkbowvintage 6.5 - "It's beautiful but has little replay value for me idk." AshleyLovescats887 7 - "it's okay" Where are you now? 5.9 - "Guitar/instrumental solo at the end is heavenly." wastedpotential 5.1 - "I'm sorry but I can no longer find it within myself to give this song sympathy points because of Lord's khia high school friend and her anorexia. This is filler, pure and simple. The metaphor in the second verse would probably land better to me if it didn't make me think of the way wet coins smell and the way Lord is writing this song to show a friend how she's loved but still compares her to a literal penny, maybe she really was secretly a bully. Still, I'm always going to encourage Lord to employ literary devices, because practice makes perfect and even the Songwriter Of The Anthropocene had to start somewhere." Bussea Posted September 2 Posted September 2 2 hours ago, Forever Winter said: *OprahHandsNavySweaterLooksAtCamera.gif*. I don't feel the need to go in here, I'm sure everyone's getting their licks in. Instead, I'd like to take a second to reminisce on the day this song came out. You need to know, if you weren't there, that the primary focus at the time was on YouTube 24 hour viewcounts, back when that was still a viable platform (though it was slowing pretty massively all of 2019). It had been tense, we took the record with Bad Blood, but lost it to Hello, which lost it to Look What You Made Me Do, which lost it to 7 Rings. Now, you have to keep in mind that this was Lord's first Republic era and her first streaming-era era where She wasn't ******* it up by witholding from Spotify, so we knew it would be big and we wanted to make it as big as possible, to please and glorify Her. We had no idea what would come at the end of the tracking week (that round of PTaySD was in our futures still), all we knew at this point was ME! was out in the world (and not very good, though we weren't admitting that to ourselves yet ddd), Ariana and the Arianators had been getting their lashes in at Taylor's streaming numbers, and we really only had this one chance (I remember oomfs being worried that an underperformance here would harm Taylor's relationship with Republic nn). We honestly thought the #1 was totally feasible until Wednesday (competitive, but not far beyond what the numbers would've naturally been), so for that releae Friday, we were DEDICATED to taking back the Vevo 24 hour view record. It had been Taylor's several times before, and now it was held by a competitor whose fans had been talking the most vile **** all year, and this was our chance. I was in university and didn't have classes that Friday, but I also didn't have good wifi in my apartment, so I spent the entire day sitting at a table in the hallway of the library watching the first 30 seconds of the music video (right when it pans to the cats on the couch, I didn't even have to look that up nnn) and then hitting the refresh button. Just as Delicate is the song I've streamed the most across all time, ME! is the video I've seen the most. We were incredibly fortunate, because we did break that record by a wide margin (10M+ views), and then VEVO stopped counting something (too much has happened since for me to remember, but that record is ours forever). Of course, we lost the most viewed music video on YouTube in general to a BTS video not too long after that, but they weren't on VEVO and it didn't count, and now YouTube is basically dead for western artists, so that's one record ME! will always hold. Well, that, and the largest single-week jump on the Hot 100, from 100 to 2.... Maybe we really weren't that fortunate." girl shut the hell up fhhhgf @wastedpotential 1 4

Cruel Summer Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Mixtape can take all the losses in the world as long as Teardrops and Mary's Song last. But mark my words - the re-recording of this album will STOMP. And hopefully with Dark Blue Tennessee on the surprise full second disc vault tracklist 1 3
Brooklyn Baby Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 From ATRLer KillingYourCareer: Quote "The Platinum Edition bonus tracks are some of the weakest of her discography (to the point they were among the very few songs I had to relisten to for this rate), and this one is the worst for me. Brooklyn Baby Posted September 2 Author Posted September 2 235. Superstar 5.309 Comments The Music Industry 10 - "Expecting this to be ranked low, but Superstar is extremely underrated and deserves better. The way she sings it is so soft and yearning. There's a sweetness to the song, but also a hint of sadness, because deep down, you kind of know that this love might only ever be a fantasy. It brings back lots of memories of 10 year-old me having a crush on Chad Michael Murray." AshleyLovescats887 10 - "extremely underrated, why tf is this the lowest streamed one?" greento 8.2 - "I don't care how bad people think this is, it doesn't deserve to be one of her least popular songs ever." wastedpotential 7.9 - "Oh now this is a little musical number I hate to love and love to hate. I'm too lazy to unpack the lyrical implications here but I know the irony is delicious. Anyway, sometimes a skip and sometimes a lovely ditty to put on while cleaning the house. The chord progression into the bridge sends shivers down my spine because of how clean and perfect and excellent it is. Still, Nathan Chapman will be in HELL for the male vocals and Chris Rowe and his dirty beard will join him there for not explaining to Lord that they're horrible and a bad idea. We do NOT want any more hidden male producer harmonies! Repeat it with me, We do NOT want any more hidden male producer harmonies! We do NOT want any more hidden male producer harmonies! Maybe if I burn some stage around Electric Lady, we can get the evil spirit of Nathan Chapman out. Anyway, I wonder if Lord knows she probably sings millions of people to sleep every night on the radio, or if she's forgotten about this song just as much as the rest of us." Lorenzo22 7.8 - "The chorus is so freaking good, her melody game is unmatched." Where are you now? 7.4 - "The re-record made me see the light." Forever Winter 6.8 - "A cute song.
