If this happened to someone ATRL doesn't like, y'all would be kicking and screaming, crying about payola. But since it's someone who appeals to white gays, it's yasss brat summer

Hmm don't know about the last part. Charli XCX does not make generic music. She already has proven herself as a pop visionary, so I think everybody is cheering because an underdog is achieving that, not someone that makes music to appeal 100% to the masses with no personality, and just by having industry push behind it. Even if BRAT is not her most experimental work, this is the person with Pop2, Vroom Vroom and How I'm Feeling Now in her discography. She's not the usual payola'd artist

Imagine saying this about the 16th most acclaimed album in Metacritic's history :rip: you gotta be really tasteless.

Imagine outsourcing your music appraisal to conglomerate-owned coastal magazine employees who make $24 an hour :rip:

and for the record brat isn't even in the top 100 but as I've already established these scores don't actually matter for anything

Because a lot of the Top 50 is reflective of the taste of very plain, basic people, not brats. There is a cultural divide.

My straight coworkers are talking about brat. Your self deprecating homophobia says more about how little you guys socialize than talking about gays and their twitter circles.

The song has been climbing Spotify the last couple weeks. The song is smashing.

I didn't read through 8 pages of people who are clearly bothered because another woman is being praised, but if we go to chartmasters most streamed albums.

https://chartmasters.org/spotify-most-streamed-albums/

Then enter the year 2024, sort by daily streams, Brat is #5 in the most daily streams.

Seems like an album full of hits to me.

Well it's a more objective point of view than yours or mine :cm: it's also loved by the GP and also got shortlisted for the Mercury Prize so...

Good. She hasn't had an actual label push in a decade except Crash and while that did okay 360 is already at 100m streams (maybe 1999 if we wanna stretch but not even). This album and era is a moment and feels very monumental for her.

Swifts stans losing their minds seeing their pathetic fave being an afterthought with The Tortured Garbage Department released this year is a sight to behold :rip:

Do not forget that Brat is more acclaimed than anything Taylor ever released :clap3:

Such a happy moment for XCX and LOL at anyone being butt hurt about this. Let's be happy for the woman to finally have the success she deserves.

10 years ago if someone told me Charli would be outstreaming and outperforming Katy, I'd probably laugh at their face
