It's the fact that she thought it was going to work this time...with that song.

This will never be as terrible as Aguilera's accelerate debacle but katy definitely deserves some lashings for coming back with this horrible dr luke song.

At least Accelerate gave us that iconic Ajayll reaction video

In her flop era people are still talking about it and making a big noise, unlike some other girls just missed and gone. She will do fine with next single.

Katy Perry's "Woman's World" Crashes and Burns: A Flop of Epic Proportions

In a music industry rife with fierce competition and ever-changing tastes, Katy Perry's latest single "Woman's World" has emerged as a catastrophic misfire. Plunging to a dismal #63 on the Billboard Hot 100, it's not just the numbers that have left fans and critics alike scratching their heads—it's the sheer mediocrity packaged in a controversial wrapper.

Let's dissect the debacle.

Clichéd Lyrics That Put You to Sleep

First up on the chopping block: the lyrics. Perry, once celebrated for her anthemic and empowering messages, seems to have lost her lyrical mojo. "Woman's World" serves up a tired cocktail of clichés that could have been ripped straight from a self-help book gathering dust in the corner of a grandma's living room. Lines like "It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be livin' in it." evoke more eye-rolls than empowerment, failing to resonate with a generation that demands substance over sentimentality.

An Outdated Sound Lost in a Time Warp

Moving on to the sound—oh, the sound. If "Woman's World" were a car, it would be a clunky old sedan struggling to keep pace on a highway dominated by sleek, futuristic sports cars. The production, helmed by the infamous Dr. Luke, reeks of yesteryear's pop trends, failing to capture the zeitgeist that contemporary listeners crave. It's as if Perry and Luke unearthed a forgotten demo from 2010, dusted it off, and hoped for a miracle in 2024.

The Dr. Luke Dilemma: A Producer on Thin Ice

Speaking of Dr. Luke, his involvement in "Woman's World" raises more than a few eyebrows. The producer, mired in a long-standing controversy with Kesha, remains a lightning rod for criticism and controversy. With Kesha's allegations of abuse still echoing in the industry's halls, Perry's choice to collaborate with Luke seems not only tone-deaf but also indicative of a disconnect with the current cultural climate.

Sexualized Video: A Feminist Misfire

And then there's the video—an exercise in contradictions. "Woman's World," purportedly a feminist anthem, somehow manages to undermine its own message with visuals that border on the gratuitous. Perry, draped in provocative attire and surrounded by gyrating dancers, struggles to reconcile empowerment with titillation. It's a shameless bid for attention that misses the mark, alienating both feminist critics and casual viewers who expected more from an artist of Perry's stature.

The Aftermath: What's Next for Katy Perry?

As the dust settles on this catastrophic release, the question remains: where does Katy Perry go from here? Once a stalwart of the pop music scene, Perry now finds herself at a crossroads. Does she reinvent herself, embracing a more nuanced and contemporary sound? Or does she continue down the path of diminishing returns, clinging to outdated formulas and controversial collaborators?

Whatever her next move may be, one thing is clear: "Woman's World" will go down in history not as a bold statement but as a cautionary tale—a cautionary tale of what happens when an artist loses touch with her audience, her message, and ultimately, herself.

In the ruthless arena of pop music, there are no second chances for those who falter. And for Katy Perry, "Woman's World" may just be the beginning of a reckoning long overdue.

She really had just about as much going for her and her comeback as she was ever going to get and they released that…like, what?? Deserved honestly.

It truly was the most boring song tbh. It sounded like literally a song she's already recorded + working with Dr. Luke? Yeah, not surprised.

She should enjoy her millions and do other things because I don't see her music ever being big again. Atleast she has the classic hits though, etc. that she could always tour or do tours, etc. but I don't see her getting a hit again.

NMT is a very great song though. It was just a bit of extreme in 2008 to release a song and music video like that.

At least it's her own fault so I can't throw hands. She's ruined her best chance at a comeback. It's true it's true WBK since we heard the first snippet and Puke was revealed.

But

It does feel like everyone is just going at it cuz Katy is such an easy target. Lana, Gaga, Nicki, etc. all did worse things but no one really cared cuz their fanbases would literally murder writers of such articles. :deadbanana:

Where were you when Lana got bashed for her question for the culture IG post?

It is the worst comeback considering how things were lining up for her, and people kind of missing her on social media for a while and longing for a comeback... Only for her to serve disposable D-tier music made by a r@pist

Except Gimme More went top 3, has lasting impact and was an actually good song. Sure the backlash against Britney herself was 1000x worse with her personal life and mental health but in terms of the actual material and its reception/performance … 143/WW is significantly worse.

Plus, it's a stable hit on GTAV's non-stop-pop radio :spin:

at least she got some press out of it x

There might have been worst singles but the reception of the song has been the worst I've seen. A non-stop backlash, she really ****** up by releasing not only a dated and corny song but also that has feminist lyrics and it's produced by a rapist, like, she could've survived with just one or two of those things but the whole thing is way too much.

Bet she screamed her lungs out at those yes-men or women around her :rip:

The song is generic but not as catchy as california gurls. She needs 2024 material....
