now come on... i hate to bring this up because i don't want to put her past over gaga's head like some dark cloud but we ain't forgot about the r kelly collab and performance. yes she apologized but that was 7 years after the controversy. (she did get backlash for it tho)

Forgot to mention the part where Gaga apologized and Rkellys victims praised her.

idk if it's that disastrous, witness felt way worse.

Witness era was a mess but "Chained to the Rhythm" was a worldwide Top 10 hit everywhere…

maybe but she was the definition of cringe

It really is imho. We joke about Bionic being an iconic flop era, but even its first single managed to make the Top 40 and it wasn't nearly as panned as Woman's World is. :skull:

Worst attempt of a comeback of all time, actually. Bad antics and terrible music. They shipped it, but it got shipped back!

The song is not that bad for real

It's just easy to target her and fallow the hate train

How was JT comeback?

This article is for clicks.

The VMA performance was panned, but the album and single sold really well.

JT's first come back (7 year gap between albums) was a huge success (Suit & Tie and Mirrors), and this new comeback was lackluster, but he still managed to get a top 20 hit.

In my 29 years on earth I can honestly say it truly is one of the most non-sensical, lacking self awareness and catastrophic flops by a big artists I've ever witnessed. I know it's still new but there's no turning this song around - it's an atomic bomb that the damage cannot be undone. It's over for this one. Good luck on the second single.

Well, there's a lot of things that Gaga did but mostly some of these alone:

  • worked with Marilyn Manson, worked with Terry Richardson for years, including the mv for Do What U Want ft. R. Kelly
  • supporting her dancer Richy Jackson, an abuser, probably will be working with him for the next era too
  • performing with COVID and risking the lives of her crew and fans

Not to mention her dating a billionaire, and her connections to other world's most rich people in the world, using bulimia for fame and headlines with the vomit perfomance...

I think she's kinda lucky that some of these happened in 2013/2014, cuz the social media power wasn't even 1/4 as powerful as today.

With Lana I'm not that familiar and I know there's some very disgusting things she did regarding politics, but I won't go there without more research, but we can bring her casual racism, question for the culture, questionable racist tweets to Fka twigs, supporting Trump, promoting mesh mask face during covid, and now in 2024 working with a famous homophobe and abuser (of Saweetie), Quavo.

"She dated a billionaire and performed with covid" being on the same level as working with Dr Luke in 2024? :ahh:

Working with R Kelly is bad, however she removed the song from all platforms and apologized (his victims accepted and praised the apology) and never worked with him again — that is a complete 180 from what Katy has/is done/doing (not apologizing and continuing to work with him in the present)

As for Terry Richardson — literally every pop star has worked with him. No one works with him post-allegations which again, is a complete 180 from what Katy is doing with Luke in the present.

Richy Jackson stuff is bad, we absolutely do not know if she will work with him this era so that's another reach.

Let's also not forget that Katy worked with P DIDDY in 2020/2021.

If she's so "over" then why do we keep having write articles about her? I feel like they've been saying she's over for the past 9 years.

You don't see articles like this about Tove Lo, Carly Rae Jepsen or others. No shade to them, but let's be real.

Also, era is just getting started. I have faith Katy will give us hope and **** it up again.

an old white dude in a board room somewhere must loathe her, bc the way these articles dragging her are popping up daily is kinda sad

i dont like what i've heard of the song, nor do i have much interest in a new katy perry record (kim petras collab will serve though, i'm sure).. but why is everyone so fixated on chart success?

to call her comeback a flop before the album ever drops is pretty harsh and it's sad too, considering she should be able to flop in peace while satisfying her fans and continuing to develop her catalog

this article reads as AI word splatter

Sexy, confident
So intelligent
She is heaven-sent
So soft, so strong

She's a winner, champion
Superhuman, number one
She's a sister, she's a mother
Open your eyes, just look around and you'll discover, you know

Let's be real. Katy tanked. This has been a fact for close to a decade now. It's like beating a dead horse to still write articles / have entire podcast episodes dedicated to this.

Fixed that for you.

 Marilyn Manson

Friend, as someone who was a huge Manson fan, I'm going to say that this is misleading. His allegations didn't begin to come out until well over a decade after him and Gaga worked on that remix. Most of the alleged acts hadn't even occurred yet.

Literally who gives af. Rolling Stone's "musical" journalism has been in the pits for ages lately.

Absolutely. That gossip rag chimed in during the Queen of Christmas feud, siding with Darlene Love claiming Mariah Carey has never performed a live set of Christmas music. The year was 2022.

They employ Kellyanne Conway-esque serious people I fear.... OR people with mental illness.

JLo down. Katy down.

Indeed their situation may seems unrelated but it actually is. In both cases the primary cause is egomania. They have the delusional hubris of what they believe the public likes about them.

I disagree. The criticism that I am reading has a lot of personal undertones which I find weird for when their only purpose should be to rate the music and not the person.

It's undignified.
