Shakira is literally the biggest streaming legend from the 90's.

The only female acts that surpass her from the 00's are Rihanna and Taylor:rip:

It's not like Bey is doing bad...Shakira is just in another level.

Spotify:

Beyoncé - 27B

Shakira - 21B

why should we care more about Spotify when YouTube is globally a much more consumed platform, available to and for EVERYONE?

Not you pretending that Cowboy Carter doesn't have collabs with Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, and several other artists. :rip:

Please don't compare playlists to albums. Shakira album gives Dua lipa vibes. The tragic debuts and chart run proves it.

Because the Beyoncé collabs are album tracks not singles? Only the Miley song is a single. Common sense, use your brain

It's the same problem Bey has since Sasha. The albums die fast because there aren't any big hits

You don't need big hits to have an stable album, also even her hits fad look at CUFF IT or TEXAS HOLD EM

The issue is much simpler people out of her fanbase just do NOT care about her

Shakira has a much better hold in their respective public

Anglospehere don't care about Beyonce out of her base

Meanwhile Shakira pull in latam is much bigger and gp carried :gaycat2:

Shakria's album is carried by year-old one-off collabs that she tacked on the album to increase its numbers, it's crazy how people seem to be forgetting that :rip:. You're all comparing a glorified compilation collab album, to an album that was neglected and left to rot by its owner immediately after release. Let's talk about the new songs, not the Karol G or Bizarrap collab

Shakira's album barely scrapping 3m is NOT a win by any means... :bibliahh:

Miley had one of the biggest songs of the last decade, so the collab should easily be pulling huge numbers. :gaycat6: Common sense, use your brain

So the Miley and Post Malone Collab did not carry Beyonce's album?

Or do you want to say Karol G and Bizarrap are bigger than Beyonce?
(Fact: Both Karol G and Bizarrap got their first and ONLY US top 10 and UK charting after collaborating with Shakira)

Beyonce has more singles and albums (in streaming era)

If you do the average streaming number per song, Shakira outstreamed without the need to release countless remixes.

I enjoyed CC but it felt heavy and that has nothing to do with the tracklist. I don't know how to describe it.

Shaki's album isn't better artistically but if I had to choose an album to revisit it would be hers.

Back to the topic: Shakira always makes timeless music. A lot of her songs stand the test of time. They still sound fresh after years/ decades.

Shakira's album is like 99% collabs :gaycat6:.  4/17 tracks being solo. 9 songs being droplet singles, some of which appeared on other people's albums first that she needed to attach to hers, otherwise no one would listen. When we remove those and only discuss the new songs that were released with the album - it barely scraps 200m total.

No they don't, because her album wasn't spammed with collabs like Shakira's is. :gaycat6:

I don't even care for Karol G like that but her album went #1, still does 7m daily, and is still charting on Billboard. Shakira's album left after week 5. :gaycat6:

The only song that appeared on another album was TQG, and according to Karol herself the release of her own album was delayed to coincide with the schedule Shakira planned for TQG's release. And it did what it did because it was riding her BZRP Session's hype. That's why it was Shakira's 2nd Top 10 hit of the year and the first of Karol's entire career.

The problem with Shakira's album was that the hype was long gone when it came out. If it was released around the same time when a solo Spanish ballad about her children was sitting pretty on the Spotify Global Top 10 it would have performed better for sure.
