Lagerfeld Posted July 22 Posted July 22 We all know that Taylor Swift has no problems getting #1 singles or albums, but I feel that these are fueled only by her fan base, and they're yet to be heard by the GP. Some would even argue that the last time she was a true hit-maker was reputation. What do you think? 18 1 7 11
Zachbbs Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I'd argue she hasn't had any real hits since her country music era. Nobody besides her gaggle of cult followers streams her anymore. They're fanatical and bizarre. Her music is not good. 21 4 3 5 36
Popular Post Bosque Posted July 22 Popular Post Posted July 22 (edited) She has released exactly two other singles since Cruel Summer was released as a single one year ago (and both of them went #1) Edited July 22 by Bosque 19 6 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Nah. Cardigan was a big hit let's not forget. And Anti-Hero was one of her most global hits since 1989 era. 12 1

Popular Post PoisonedIvy Posted July 22 Popular Post Posted July 22 (edited) Sometimes I feel like yall forget that albums are more important than singles. There's way too much significance assigned to a 3 minute teaser compared to the full body of work from which it originates. Katy, for example, probably has a larger quantity of "bigger" hits than Taylor, but Taylor is about 10x bigger an artist than Katy is. Because Taylor's main focus has always been albums and tours. The things that actually make a legendary artist legendary. Edited July 22 by PoisonedIvy 17 1
Popular Post Klein Posted July 22 Popular Post Posted July 22 (edited) A whole year without a gigantic smash like Cruel Summer? How will she recover? I also really wonder how phenomenal her success would look like if the GP cared. Damn, how unlucky for her only her 100M+ fans care. Edited July 22 by Klein 20 18
MP3 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 To be honest, if you ask people in the street about Taylor Swift they will probably talk about 1989 2
naval23 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Anti-Hero and Cruel Summer made her GP darling again but "Fortnight" is kinda reversing that ngl 1 4
Popular Post By the Water Posted July 22 Popular Post Posted July 22 If Fortnight isn't a hit we might need to have some serious conversations about some girls' entire careers 6 8 31 1
wastedpotential Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Cruel Summer's peak was what, 9 months ago? And then 6 months before that she had Anti-Hero smashing? And in the time since she's had Is It Over Now, which was a successful single by any metric, and one comparatively mild underperformance that's still done well on streaming, and you're questioning her status as a hitmaker? Popular Post DevilsRollTheDice Posted July 22 Popular Post Posted July 22 (edited) People on this website literally say anything . Her stats are self explanatory. Even Fortnight, a song people on here try to claim is a flop, has already out streamed the "smash" Texas Hold 'Em and is widening the gap. It also reached 500 million streams faster than Anti-Hero. As cardigan, august, (billion+ streams), and willow (billion+ streams this year) prove, chart runs aren't everything. Even Karma has great totals and strong recurrent stats. halcyonday Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Anti Hero and Cruel Summers are two of the biggest hits of this decade 5 3
Tm4074 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Huh? I'm no Taylor fan but she's been a consistent hitmaker since 2009. Cruel Summer is still a big hit going by its daily streams. Not every single is going to smash big time and be a multi-week #1. Fortnight will easily surpass 1B on Spotify. It's no Cruel Summer or Anti-Hero but it's a hit. What big artist consistently secures multi-week #1 smashes for every single release? Even Rihanna the most consistent and reliable hitmaker didn't achieve this. 4 1

OT: Anti-Hero was a real hit, it's only been 1 album since her last smash 2
Cruel Summer Posted July 22 Posted July 22 You mean since that single that went #1 in the US in October last year and that's literally recent enough that it's still doing well on the Spotify charts? 4 1

Oh Cmon, Cruel summer and Anti-Hero were huge smashes Cruel Summer will end up being her biggest ever Also Fornight is not a smash but a hit, it will reach 1 Billion streams later this year There are a lot of hits we consider bigger than don't hit that mark

burninredhot Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Can you guys stop acting like Fortnight is some Woman's World level bomb when it actually is doing much better than all of Taylor's singles from 2018-21 performed and already outstreamed lead singles released by other MPGs this year.. How is 500M on spotify in 3 months bad? And before you come with the whole "But isn't she the biggest artist out right now?" That doesn't mean she should also have the biggest hit of the year 4 1
