BRAT feels more culturally relevant than any other release of the year. Why?

You sure about that? :rip: People shade Taylor/TTPD just to uplift Charli/brat when it isn't even called for. Meanwhile the takes from Taylor fans in here have been much more respectful imo, but you're welcome to disagree. I don't see anyone calling brat a "poor excuse" of an album though, nor do we call her fans a "cult."

It's BRAT Summer.

Y'all cling onto GP like they care, they never do. Music Fans uniting dictate culture, and BRAT is a reflection of that.

It "feels" bigger than it is because it's a Charlie XCX album. Her stats and numbers used to be in the gutter. BRAT would be considered a commercial success if it stayed on BB200 for a month. The standard for a Charli XCX album is leagues below others.

4 weeks in Top 10 for BRAT is the same level of success than 12 weeks at #1 for TTPD. It's doing good but its impact is kinda limited to online spaces, it's dominating in its niche aka gay and stan twitter.

The vilification of discussion on a discussion board is ludicrous.

Some of the pressed responses. Let's be real, no release comes close to the cultural impact of brat being used for promotion by a Presidential candidate. Honestly some of the mental gymnastics by some is dululu.

Can someone tell me what a brat is and why everyone's talking about it on ATRL, but people in the real world have no idea what it is?

Is is Da Brat?

Since certain people started rambling about success and the songs being unknown.

"twitter vibes" and "stan twitter" do not get you this. It is impossible for that bubble of online stans to keep the album afloat at +8M streams, and it jumped back to +10M streams yesterday. The bitterness and delusion are far too much. :deadbanana2:

The album spent its first month in the Top 5 in the UK and it was #6 last week. It is also still hovering around the Top 10 on BB200. Mind you its a Charli XCX album. That is not just "stan twitter".

I would ask why this thread triggered the Swifties, but this thread isn't about Taylor and that's reason enough.

I agree.

yeah im not even a charli fan, but the amount of people I see on social media using the "BRAT aesthetic" and turn into a memes...

The stars have aligned for Charli. So many people I know who never listened to her are now talking about her and BRAT it's wild. Now she's having impact on the presidential election and people are discussing her on the news :dies: to say only gays/stan twitter care shows how out of touch some of yall are. Get with it, BRAT summer here and it's not going away anytime soon

We all know the reason they came in swinging (unprovoked, mind you) is because they can't wrap their heads around the fact an album that sold less that 10% of their ASMR lullaby reader's album is somehow more impactful to the culture.

I mean what she achieved is great and very good for her as an indie artist, the outreach and growth is insane

Sadly she's not big enough or known enough to call her era the event of the year

Beyonce, Billie and Taylor's albums were a much bigger topic when they came out

But I will say Charli grew a lot more this year than all of them combined if that makes sense.

the oths gaslighting swifties into thinking they are triggered is unreal:rip: you have people from all bases to disagree with op yet they only focus on the swifties and cant even have an ounce of objectivity

OT: maybe in the US, but it literally made no noise in my country

huh? the album is doing 10m streams daily

Not a lot for a hit album. And there's no succesful single which limits its "cultural relevancy" a lot.
