dinorhino Posted July 18 Posted July 18 (edited) Negative stereotypes amongst gay men of bi men come from them being almost entirely heteronormative and reserving serious long-term relationships for the opposite sex only and treating same-sex partners frivolously and only for hook ups, not because of biphobia. Data very clearly shows mating patterns amongst bi people go way beyond a numbers game; it shows intentionally getting into heterosexual relationships and excluding same-sex candidates. Also biphobia doesn't really exist amongst gay people and is equivalent to reverse racism. Biphobia isn't consequential and the discrimination bi people face isn't biphobia, it's homophobia which is only done by straight people. Bi people are also the most privileged (most proximity to heterosexuality), the most palatable (hence why many gay men/women come out as bi because it's more acceptable than being gay) in addition to being the majority in the queer community. They self exclude themselves from the queer community simply due to being heteronormative, not because gay people are bullying them and discriminating against them Writing this since a lot of gay men have been gaslit into believing biphobia nonsense and find it hard to accept by and large it's because of patterns bi people initiated when interacting with gay people Edited July 18 by dinorhino 4 4
sourprint Posted July 18 Posted July 18 - most gay men act bitter at other gay men who seemingly look better than them, have their **** together or have something they don't have (can be anything-wise) - most gay men have covert pedophilic tendencies 1 1

ICLDXU4HS Posted July 18 Posted July 18 This tired idea a lot of gays/LGBT push that they're promiscuity/hypersexuality (which there's nothing wrong with) is rooted in them not being able to live out their sexuality in their teens, even worse when they claim it's a trauma response to not having healthy relationships with their families in their formative years or whatever BS they come up with. 4

shinyshimmery Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Aspiring for a 'normal' life with a husband and kids is okay! You do not need to constantly be wondering what being with another man is like. Respect yourself, respect your relationship, and most importantly... respect the union that is marriage. 1 3

Also the bracelets are giving the same vibe as ''Hey kids spelling is fun'' song. To make your brain believe that a grown capitalist woman, reaching her 40s cares for you personally and not your credit card and money is worrying. I do think all that about Taylor, but I liked the concert, her as an artist and found the bracelets thing funny. Random, but funny and an extremely nice way to meet people at a show tho

Oh, sorry - I haven't heard of JoJo Levesque before, so I'm not going to speak on her. But the rest of the artists I have heard of and it takes guts to call out people on having trash music taste while also listening to those artists
Lagerfeld Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Being Bi isn't really the same as the other 3 in LGT. It's more aligned with the heterosexual community if anything. 2 4

I hate how people see JoJo and think of... that. Like it genuinely makes me so sad. She's a Pop/R&B singer and a Y2K icon. Maybe you know Leave (Get Out) or Too Little Too Late. Her mixtapes and unreleased music are golden.

An example of bi erasure To me, the "LGT" community was built on shared struggles and includes those who have actually done something for the community. I'm sorry that I don't think that the girl who claims to be 5% attracted to the same sex, who has a full-time boyfriend, or the guy that sleeps with men on the lee-low then goes off with girls for LTR to reap the benefits have done much for the community. There's no struggle there. 1 4

Well I am 26 (and I don't come from an English speaking country, which might have contributed) but I don't usually go for pop music - maybe that's why she flew under my radar 1
Zachbbs Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Calling gay men who prefer monogamous relationships "heteronormative" is ridiculous and monumentally stupid. 5 1 2

There's no struggle there. And how do you know what bisexual people have or haven't done? You can't walk around and provide your own definition of bisexuality while not being bisexual yourself. The examples you gave are extreme and narrow-minded, and probably part and parcel of the stereotype that makes it difficult for bisexual people to come out and be open about their sexuality, out of fear they may be equated with 'bicurious drunks' 4

Let's see: Gay people fearful of coming out: might potentially lose their home, friends, family, or even life. Bi people fearful of coming out: being called a bicurious drunk! I'm sure that must be difficult for them. 3 1 6
