yeah it's not our fault at all if the LGBT community appears to be less respected than ever by heteros. it's 100% conservatives' faulty judgment if we're accused of being problematic or toxic in any way.

I agree with you and that's why I've never been down with the concept of "respectability politics". I usually don't vibe with the eccentric loud people with funky colored hair but best believe I'm choosing them over a ******* conservative.

This thread gets made every month and while there's always work to be done, it can seem pretty self-loathing sometimes.

 

Let's talk about the positive truths about us for once! That we've been a remarkably resilient community, that we tend to embrace joy and optimism (indeed this is part of our culture), that we tend to value freedom from societal norms (more than any other group btw), that we punch WAY above our weight in all creative fields from film to design to music, art, etc., that we tend to be caring and take on nurturing roles in our communities.
