KLatz Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I always have a hard time placing Circus in my rankings because despite not being the most forward-thinking Britney album, Iike Blackout or In the Zone, it's always been one of my most played and beloved Britney albums. As others have said, it brought together all the sounds that Britney had been known for in the past while still pushing forward with current, newer sounds. The aesthetic, the videos, the comeback hype, the tour and era, all of it was just a pleasing moment to experience as a Britney stan. It truly felt like her victory lap and a phoenix rise from the ashes moment Also, imagine if we got a rerelease era instead of The Singles Collection with 3 and the other bonus tracks that weren't released everywhere. Truly could've scalped the top spot from Blackout for me if so 1
FallenFroot Posted July 14 Posted July 14 To me it's her second best album behind Blackout. The 1,2,3,4,5,6 punch of the first six tracks alone!

People realized she was a legend at that point. (Look at her VMAs for POM. That's faaaaar from her best video, she doesn't look good in it.)
TheseThingsHappen Posted July 14 Posted July 14 It was a great follow up in the sense that it was perfect for her comeback. Very poppy, radio friendly, great theme, high budget promo videos and tour. Musically I think Blackout is way ahead, and Circus suffers a bit from fillers on the tracklist. I think if you swapped out some songs on the standard with the deluxe tracks, you would get a much better album.
TheseThingsHappen Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) Also, why is Amnesia not on Spotify? Was it never there? One of her best! *edit: same goes for Trouble Edited July 14 by TheseThingsHappen

UseYourIllusion2002 Posted July 15 Posted July 15 The album cover is great and she looks really good on it. The one in the OP looks like a Coverlandia is mess
Soda Pop Queen Posted July 15 Posted July 15 I see Circus more as a companion piece or B-Sides to 'Blackout' rather a "follow-up", especially when both albums share a track between them (Radar).
Unusualyou Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Circus is a good album and what Britney's brand needed at the time, just fix the tracklist here and there and would be as good as blackout
Batsy Armada Posted July 16 Posted July 16 I like Circus more than Blackout, honestly. "Mannequin" is probably my favorite song from Britney. I love its structure; I still have yet to hear anything like it.
