Honestly speaking I do think she is a little bit "slow" in development and I'm not trying to be funny or shady, but actually compassionate.  It is why I think people are sort of being too harsh on her. 

 

She has good intentions, she just is very tone deaf and not good with reading the room. Almost quite similar to Asperger's or autism. 
 

I remember some documentary of her Katy Hudson days or something on YouTube when she was a teenager and she even mentioned she had to repeat a grade that year in school. Not saying repeating a grade means you must be have some issues but that combined with her making statements like "is math related to science?" and a bunch of other questionable things makes me definitely feel she probably was one of the slower learners in school growing up. 
 

Overall I think Woman's World is yet again her trying to have good intentions (like Witness era, etc) but not being the smartest when it comes to executing it. She means to be a good person and do good which is why I think the backlash and scolding she gets is very extreme. You can point out the song being weak or question Dr. Luke but trying to full out cancel her, make her an evil human, and refuse to let her understand and grow from her miscalculations just comes off harsh.

She could've released the exact same song with ANY OTHER PRODUCER. That's how stupid she is. There's nothing about this song production that makes working with Luke worth it. Nothing.

How exactly so? What was she doing that was controversial or questionable prior to Woman's World?

 

She completely stopped working with Luke the entirety of case with Kesha actually being active in court. It's not like she actually stuck by him or supported him. 
 

I just think she was very naive and saw the case end quietly and him not found guilty of anything, other artists work with Luke again, lots of nostalgia for her old music then thought as a result returning to work with him wouldn't be seen as insensitive at that point.

Yes Neil is a great teacher and managed to answer her question very politely and informatively without ridiculing her (objectively stupid) question.

She is intelligent, she has an excellent business portfolio, and has proven herself as a successful singer-songwriter BUT people forget she left school at 15 with her GED and had an incredibly sheltered upbringing. It is kind of incredible that she managed to take her entire family out of poverty and set them up with generational wealth. She has good intentions but sometimes the results are clunky and I think that's a result of her background, she had no one to guide her, no rich parents or connections.

Nah Katy is tone deaf because she's willfully ignorant. She can do better with her millions of dollars and access to resources she just chooses not to push herself or learn from her mistakes. Autistic people have excellent pattern recognition which Katy lacks considering she fails to recognize the obvious pattern of the GP rejecting everything she has released since 2017 yet she continues to release dated mess after dated mess expecting different results. I think she's just not very bright and willfully ignorant.

i feel like marrying orlando kinda worsened that situation. he seems extremely tone deaf as well judging by his interviews/social media posts so choosing to spend your life together with someone like that only set her back.

This is definitely rewriting history. She does attempt to better herself and learn from mistakes. 

 

Witness era was her trying to do be political, socially conscious, etc. That in itself is someone obviously trying to be a better person with more purpose.

However Witness ofcourse had some questionable mistakes and overall was panned and not seen favorably.

 

She then learned from that and Smile album completely had 0 socially conscious attempts or her trying to speak on things she wasn't well equipped to speak on. Smile was also panned, then at that point the general consensus was people missed "classic Katy with black hair" and Pop anthems so she again tried to revert back to that the best way she could. 
 

Once again she made more mistakes, but she definitely was actually attempting to recalculate based on prior criticisms each time. She just really is past her prime as an artist and also made one too many mistakes so it's pretty hard to truly bounce back.
