The Camilaprint :dies:

OT: Not only she didn't want to grow up musically or artistically. She also keeps making very questionable moves to relive her past glory. But what she doesn't realize is that 2024 is a very different time than 2010. She seems stuck in a Teenage Dream, but now the dream is turning into a bitter Nightmare.

So Ultrapanned maybe? I'm feeling a 0 to light 1. Tran-sition.

What do you think?

Exactly.

BOMB.

OOTB and TD were wrongfully reviewed and deserved much better scores.

Visuals aside, this era sounds absolutely horrendous so I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes her most panned album ever - especially if the controversy surrounding it contributes to the reviews too.

Depends on how many publications are going to review her

If everyone decides to have a go at it I can see it ending up in the 40s, most reviews will mention Dr Luke and Kim and Kesha and criticize her on working with the former two, on top of criticizing the trite music

If all the serious publications decide to ignore her then she might end up in the 70s, with the usual suspects (Rolling Stone, Variety) sure to give every release an 80 along with the standard review they're already typed out and where all that's left to do is replace "insert song title __" with a name

She couldn't even get acclaimed in an era where critics were throwing 70+ to anyone and everyone.

She's definitely not getting acclaimed in an era where critics review the artist as much as their actual work, and she's working with a rapist :rip:

Which era do mean? Cause the era that critics are throwing 10/10 reviews is now.

Katy's been "cancelled" since 2017 so ofc Witness and Smile wouldn't be getting praises. Especially Smile which is a very weak album.

At the same time mid albums from artists with massive fan bases are getting praised just for the clicks the fans generate or because it's cool to like a specific artists right now.

If anything, scores and critics mean nothing nowadays.

I think this album will definitely attract more reviewers than Smile (18 on Metacritic) based on the promotion effort we're seeing these days... So it's not looking good in that aspect.

I guess it just depends. Because of how afraid critics are nowadays, getting a high score on MC is easier than ever before. At the same time, I highly doubt many critics will be willing to praise an album produced by a rapist.

I was about to say critics are gonna be biased against her just because it's Katy Perry, but after reading the lyrics in the OP... yeah maybe the pannings will be deserved :rip:

well it just sounds very generic like there are no details at all this song could be anyone's

I can't see this being praised highly by critics. I think she's looking at a semi-viral TikTok/reels hit and that's about it. I could be wrong, though.

it was easier for smile and witness and she didn't achieve anything over 60 :rip:

autopanned because 'Lukasz Gottwald' is all over the credits probably :gaycat6:

She and her team should have known that alone raises expectations a lot, the songs have to be exceptionally good to justify the risk. And second, her best work is with him, so this album needs to meet, if not surpass, that benchmark

And panned in general because her team misunderstood her appeal. What people wanted (Romantic melodic Teenage Dream, Harleys, down-to-earth OOTB) and what they're getting (Sl*t pop, EDM, cvnty trap) is way too different and the moral justice of panning her will be too hard to resist

But I'll be streaming all day 🍿

Judging by the snippets they sound like doja cat rejects :rip:  (kiss me more is still miles above any of these snippets)

That Nirvana song sounds like a generic David Guetta mess

The production is not even good she could have worked with any other producer

They definitely overcomplicated this. A giant neon sign made of random gen z tiktokkers practically screamed the answer (JUST REHASH TEENAGE DREAM & HIH :deadbanana4:), but they completely overlooked it. When people try to make things more when they don't need to be… they end up making them actually less than they should be.

from the snippet the first single seems very weak. I don't get why she created all the dr-luke drama to have something sounds so dated. I mean if at least he would still be like the "trend producer" of the moment....

No matter what she does it'd be wrong. She makes a total TD 2.0 and HIH 2.0 = omg she's doing the same thing again so boring!!!!1111, now she makes a club record with different flavors similar to Dark Horse or Kim Petras - NOOOOOOOO so bad she never evolves!!!!!!!, she tries to get out of her comfort zone like Witness - noooo that's trash she should stick to safe pop productions!!!

didn't she release again this decade with smile? in this era it's hard for a main pop gilr to have like a totally panned album. Even Avril Lavigne got an acclaimed album (i'm not saying as something against her, just she wasn't loved by music critics during her peak years) while Katy was a rare case of a panned pop girl in this decade.

Saying that yes now teenage dream as an album released by a "cool artist" would get definitely better reviews, even if i don't think like 75+ but like 65-70.

Girl, stop with the victimizing. There is nothing "out of her comfort zone" with the snippets we've heard. They are literal attempts to recapture the success and glory of 15 years ago, relying on the same, tired, cliche lyrics and dated beats. There is a way to try and do that, that is fresh and exciting, but she's not going that route.

What a popstar 15 years into her career should stick to is... you know, good music. Music that represents them, not music that is a retread.

I think critics were a lot harsher and less afraid of fan backlash back then, but I get what you're saying. It's not looking good for Miss Luke.

The snippets mostly include the rappers' intros tho...? And on both Nirvana and Gimme Gimme we can hear her being more sexual than before, which is something fresh for her, especially that the era is based on her reconnecting with her body after birth? Judge the album when we have the entire thing, k?

Max is just on a few things. There are some tracks where she showed she wanted to evolve and try something different, like Mind Maze and Power.

I can say with 100% certainty that it will be thee MOST panned album of the year with the lowest Metacritic score.

She's so back!
