good_enough888 Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I love this album. I was skeptical seeing so many features and hearing Love Bites. Corazon I loved immediately even having a feature. It's not that I hate Love Bites I just wanted a solo Nelly lead. Hearing the album in full though Love Bites makes sense. All I can say is I am loving this album. To me it sounds like she finally found a great way to mix all of her past pop sounds with her Portuguese influences in a way that sounds modern and contemporary. It makes me feel like I'm at dance party on a tropical island. I like all of the features. None of them make the songs worse. And it makes sense too after hearing Nelly in interviews repeat this theme of community that inspires her. Even the track lengths I don't mind. The songs are so good that I don't realize how short they are. I liked TSI, I loved The Ride. I think 7 could be the best though. I can't even decide a favorite songs because to me it's pretty skipless. I love Better Than Ever the most, I love ballads over uptempo songs. I love how Showstopper sounds like a song from Loose. Floodgate, Crown, Fantasy, All Comes Back, Save Your Breath, Untitled are what I'm listening to the most but I can't decide all of the songs are so good. I hope this does well for her. 3
UnusualBoy Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I just saw the length of the tracks, when I catch you Nelly... Anyway, I'm on track #1, ready to be slayed. 3 1

rehceeb Posted September 20 Posted September 20 she was onto something with Floodgate the track is mesmerizing but way too short 1
UnusualBoy Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Ok, I just finished and the 2nd half of the album is so good but my main complain is that the songs feel so short, they either needed another chorus or a bridge and an extra chorus but great regardless. Not sure how I'd rank it among her other albums yet. 3
ChooseyLover Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I hate that I'm not feeling this... It's too over the place. I'll definitely keep trying, I love Nelly so much.

It's a very interesting album with lots of upbeat songs to keep the energy up. I will definitely be revisiting this for the forseeable future.

JDC Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I just finished the album and I loved it! It's all over the place but in a good way? Honesty, Better For Worse, Fantasy and Take Me Down were my instant favorites but I enjoyed the whole album, annoyed that some of the songs are so short, HATE the short songs trend but oh well, she won best album release of the day for me + an improvement after her 2 past albums. 1
good_enough888 Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Im listening to Fantasy and is anyone else getting major Britney Spears Blackout meets Glory era vibe? Her voice even kind of mimics Britney's signature baby voice and I love that Nelly didn't stray from that. It sounds so cute and nostalgic. 1

Ewan Chaos Posted September 20 Posted September 20 This album is so interesting. The way it's all over the place and the songs are so short make it feel a bit like a demo collection, but the songs are clearly fleshed out enough to not really be demo-level. I think for a "later career" album it's good! And I like it more than the last two albums. 1
Dark Miracles Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) All-around this album really shines with its melodies. Nelly did liken it more to a "fashion collection" so no real narrative or throughline is to be expected, but it's not bothersome. 1. Showstopper: this was the snippet I was most excited by. I absolutely love it, the "come my way" pre-chorus is incredible esp the 2nd one with that baby voice doing her signature melismas but this is the one song on the album I have a gripe with that's too short, it would've really benefited from traditional pop song structure instead of being cut short. Still a 9.5/10. 2. Corazón: as said before chorus is quintessential Nelly, I'm a sucker for that stringy guitar. 8.5/10 3. Love Bites: it's nice but still feels a bit too dry, it improves with the live arrangement she does 6.5/10 4. Better For Worse: "no sacrifice in your eyes" the melody here is so strong and love her vocal performance on this one 9/10 5. Honesty: SG did the thing on this, an irresistible gust of synthpop coming over you 9/10 6. Floodgate: very pleasant, her early-career sleepy voice is back on this one but indeed rather abrupt ending 7.5/10 7. Crown: this might be more of a sleeper for me, not immediately my favorite but will stand the test of time well I feel as its lyrics demand the attention here 7.5/10 8. All Comes Back: again strong melodically but probably the album track that I'm gravitating towards the least atp 7/10 9. Save Your Breath: this one was a very nice surprise. I was not expecting that sound at all. It's so weird how an artist known for her panache of so many different genres can still sound like she found something new and I feel like that's the case here. It's something more musical theatre from Nelly which was unexpected 9.5/10 10. Ready For Myself: enjoyable but production could've been spruced just up a bit 7/10 11. Fantasy: this could easily be a Loose album track, sounds like Jim Beanz on background vocals so it tracks. Such a banger. 10/10 12. Better Than Ever: whew I think this could be a new classic for Nelly. I can hear Adele sing this. The vocal melody here really grabs me and she's never sounded better 10/10 13. Take Me Down: the yodeling is so left field but it works really well. Like @JoeAg already mentioned it's got a slightly unnerving, haunting quality. Interesting lyrics. It's strange but in the best way 9/10 14. Untitled: This is so sad. "Memories of Dina" Nelly is never this specific so it must be coming from a very deep well of (previously untapped) emotion and/or trauma 8/10 Edited September 20 by Dark Miracles 3

sweetkiss Posted September 20 Posted September 20 as someone who would only listen to her singles, i enjoy this album, my first nelly album i heard just first 4 tracks but wow, idk which song is better from which one
MusicIsMyMaster Posted September 20 Posted September 20 okay but why is Floodgate so short...............
GiulioLIFESTYLE Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Im completely in love with this album, it's great to hear her again on new songs 💖 I still need to accept some track lengths: I absolute adore showstopper, floodgate, take me down and better than ever but a bridge and an extra chorus would have elevated them so much for now my favourite part is honesty > floodgate > crown (the latter might be my fav song for the time being) The only one I'm not too into it rn is All comes back
Paddy Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I really enjoyed listening to this album throughout the day. There's something I enjoy in every song so that's a great thing as it'll make me listen again and again. It's such a short album it's almost sad. It's what she promised, collection of songs, more playlisty album then a connected body of work, but I'm so glad she's having fun and it's a fun listen. 1
