Erreur2 La Nature Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I was VERY excited a few weeks ago but I don't enjoy the snippets I heard. The video looks cheesy and I'm not a fan of this type of humor. The Dr Luke collaboration is doubtful too. I'm open to like Woman's World and maybe it can grow but so far it sounds extremely generic (and hypocritical).
shimind Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Honestly, it would be hypocritical of me to say NO. I played the **** out of Doja Cat's Say So and still do till date.. god knows how many coins i have given to that man passively by playing his songs like katy's roar, kesha's tik tok. So I will give this Katy new song a listen and then give my concluding statements
thatsmydemi Posted July 10 Posted July 10 More than ever, yeah. I can't get that snippet out of my head.
MaxMartin Posted July 10 Posted July 10 honestly no.. the video looks cheesy , silly humor again, weak melodies (from snippets) , working with a rapist.... It's all been splattered with ****
Digitalism Posted July 10 Posted July 10 (edited) I mean even if I end up not liking it this is one of the exiting events this year for ATRL. Not a lot of fun things have happened here this year. Everybody came and went with the releases making almost no noise. I know at least this will be funny. Edit: Also all of the pop girls have been extremely lazy with their promo and it's nice to see someone actually giving content. It kinda feels like back in the day. If everyone was serving that much promo ATRL would be totally different. Edited July 10 by Digitalism
BrokenMachine Posted July 10 Posted July 10 No. Even ignoring said Dr. producer, the whole campaign screams performative and superficial activism done only for Katy to get the straight male gaze back
Bimbo Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Definitely excited to see the levels of desperation she's gonna reach after the first predictions 6

ScorpiosGroove Posted July 10 Posted July 10 how anyone could've been excited in the first place is beyond me 1

swissman Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Honestly...yes I am "excited" as far as being surely interested to see what the song sounds like, the video looks like, and how it all plays out. HOWEVER, I wouldn't say that this "excitement" translates to any sort of positive anticipation. The single cover looked fun, but then slowly a trickle of information and problematic behaviours seemed to begin. First, rumours and then confirmation of using Dr. Luke. But also: putting out a fake snippet to trick fans (which is terrible and/or cheesy marketing), promoting through Trisha Paytas, performing for Dolce & Gabbana (I know a lot of celebs use them again or never stopped but being the face of their event like that is just another lil problematic behaviour), announcing a collaborative with Dr. Luke apologist Kim Petras and then to the actual seeming song and lyrical quality of the lead (as far as we've seen),...all this makes me more excited to see what happens next than any expected affinity to the music or era itself.
