Gaga couldn't reach Taylor's heights. Why?

Taylor's place in the music industry is undoubtedly one of the most important. One of the reasons for this is her very loyal and strong fan base. Similarly, Gaga has the Little Monsters, who are just as dedicated to her, but why hasn't she been able to reach Taylor's heights in terms of commercial performance and impact?

what is Swift's impact? quickly.

Even when we point it out you will just deny it. Why do you attack Swift, who is undeniably a legend at this point, and not the OP who is trying to provoke you into reacting negatively? Come on, be better. Gaga has a ton of impact and success that will never be erased, theres no reason to insinuate Taylor somehow doesn't.

OT — because Gaga made some intentionally polarizing decisions early on in her career that siphoned away some of her GP support.

Because Gaga tries too hard to be edgy and unique. Less is more, people don't want complexity, they want something to relate to and could listen at any moment of their day and sadly that can't be said about Gaga. Taylor is more of a sweetheart and have been more consistent on her releases and that helps a lot unlike Gaga that every album takes more time to be released and now wants to be seen as an actress more than a singer

In Taylor's peak, stans are just logging onto Stationhead or pressing play on a playlist that loops forgettable songs. Taylor's heights still haven't matched up to Gaga - she's never had an era with four global smashes. And when you count re-releases, Gaga had a peak with 7 global smashes and gargantuan album sales without multiple variants.

Taylor is 14(?) eras in and has failed to match that every time.

And still every era of her outdid all of her albums sans TF/TFM which is on par with units with 1989 so what's your point?

One of my most notable memories as a Gaga stan was her response to being called the Queen of Pop and being compared to Madonna during the BTWB

She said she didn't want to be anyone's ******* queen, she wanted to make a difference in people's lives

And she did exactly that, you may not see is now, but Born This Way stimulated a cultural and political movement that saved many lives  :clap3:

I love Taylor and give props to her success where it's due, but it's comparing apples to oranges

But Taylor Swift contributed to the same movement with Welcome To New York and You Need To Calm Down. :dies:

Taylor famously released an album (that was her first peak of many) in 2008 that spawned 2 classic songs and has since gone diamond, years before streaming came into the picture.

And hell, she didn't upload 1989 onto Spotify at all for years and hindered its success, yet still peaked globally there as well without playlists or loops. She has more than proven she's capable of outperforming her peers with or without streaming. If the BB200 was purely sales driven right now she'd be even more unstoppable.

And yet Taylor's 1989 tour outgrossed Monster Ball Tour (with less dates, mind you), spawned 2 huge smashes, 1 big hit, and 2 moderate hits. Pretty on par with The Fame. All with only.. 1? variant and no streaming, just like TF. If you want to count "reissues" (TFM & 1989TV) Taylor's lead only increases. Gaga definitely captivated award shows and red carpets but she didn't do anything from a commercial standpoint that Swift hasn't since replicated and exceeded.

Gaga had too many jump scare costumes. People were getting tired of attending a horror show. Taylor's music has always been easier on the eyes and ears.
