It don't have to have super sad lyrics but the tone of the song is so eerie and sounds depressing. Destiny's Child Killing time is an underrated one for me. The song is about them pining for a lover and waiting for him to return and it's unclear if he will. The humming as well is chilling.

I remember this song came out when I was on a heavy depression stage of my life. I couldn't wake up from by bed but I did it anyway, went to university, got busted on weed and beer and just pretended everything was fine. This song was my safe space, the raw and intense synths, the emptiness of her voice on the verses but her pain on the chorus, the scandalous bridge omg. This is so sad
