Yeah maybe they're all lying and this was part of a huge scheme to generate money because everyone involved is greedy, yeah maybe. But also maybe he told the truth. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and also I don't have a stick up my ass.

Sinister Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 every song below TWIL in the top 10 has peaked...I know Wild Thoughts is coming but I feel like Bruno has a chance to still be in the top 10 by September at this rate

alestevens Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) When was the last year that no female-led songs peaked at #1? And the last year when no female songs (collabs included) peaked at #1? Does anyone know? Because i have a feeling this is going to happen again in 2017! Edited June 21, 2017 by alestevens

He had the lyrics in front of him and, again, as Fonsi confirmed, took has many takes as he needed to get the pronunciation right. That's it. What about that is "label-pushed"? Sure, he learned the songs to record it and as you said got as many takes as he wanted, but he can't even be bothered to sing the song live or substitutes it for "blah blah blah/dorito" as a joke. That's just lazy and arguably disrespectful that he's not even willing to remember the words in another language after he already recorded them for a studio single release. If you know your fans love a song as much as they do his version of Despacito and you truly cared about what you were recording, wouldn't you try a little harder? IDK what story is being told but Bieber's actions are speaking louder than Fonsi's words. I'm not saying it's for a fact label-pushed, as my "label pushed teas" remark was an opinion, but he just seems like to me that he can't be bothered to be further involved with it, performance or promotion wise, while gladly taking in the extra coins regardless. That's just the vibe I can't help but get. Despite my feelings I must admit I have loved all of Bieber's music lately so I guess he can take his attitude all the way to my coins and streams. werq I guess. Edited June 21, 2017 by MusicTalker

FanOfPop Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 "Believer" is pretty close to Top 10 now. I'm hoping after "Say You Won't Let Go" and "Issues" this won't peak at #11 or at #11 - #13 range.

Despacito was already huge in Europe, it was only missing the English markets like the USA and Canada where it was slowly rising. I'm not saying it wasn't fun for them to do such version...but c'mon who was one of the "hottest" singers in 2015 with three number ones that changed the public mind regarding him. They needed someone singing in English he just jumped into the track to give it a boost, it wouldn't have made it so far if it was the original version but top 15 for sure.

I was referring to multiple performances and not just one in which he doesn't know any of the words he's meant to sing. anyway I don't blame him/his label or Luis/Daddy Yankee for a mutually beneficial business deal so more power to 'em.

Yeah it certainly seems stronger than all the other stuff out right now not named Despacito. Not that that is saying super much...

Well even though "Despacito" didn't block any song from #1 ("That's What I Like" and "I'm The One" reached that) it doesn't seem that any other song besides MAYBE "Wild Thoughts" could be blocked. I mean the only songs from Top 20 that hasn't peaked yet (in my opinion) are "Body Like A Back Road", "Believer", "Redbone", "Unforgettable", "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back", "Now Or Never". I don't count "2U" because we don't know yet about its chart run. Maybe "Congratulations" too which might be the only song from current Top 10 which is about to reach its peak following weeks.

Blue Rose Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 can someone please explain to me how this song is 5x platinum? Its US streams are around 200M, so 150K SPS and we know it didn't sell 4M downloads
