poll How would you rate Beyoncé's level of talent?

Her voice is irritating to my ears and her booty shaking is nothing to gag over. She's a try hard and that's very off putting. I give her a solid 7 bc she's objectively talented though.

She's not a real musician, that's the reason she has never won AOTY, her lack of creative input does matter to other musicians who are actually writing and creating their own music

She's above average but the history of cheating takes some points off, so a 5 for average. 

While she's a good technical vocalist, she was unfortunately blessed with an irritating tone and timbre. 

Her dancing is good and she used to have lots of energy, but ironically her dancing is not technical. She freestyles a lot and that's not as impressive.

Easily a 10, one of the most talented artists and performers of all time. 

 

I don't really care if someone writes their music more so than what the product they put out is. I've never seen an artist release endless quality like Bey, I always know I can expect great things from her and that takes immense amounts of talent.

Just scrolling through this thread, If Beyonce is a 5-7 then pretty much every single ATRL fave and basically every artist in history except the top 3-5 are all 2-3s at best

I do agree. Although her voice technically its good, but it just sounds so irritating like a rubberchicken but more pleasant.

This basically. Not only one of the most talented vocalists and performers in music history but has released only quality in the past 10 years. Sure, she works with a lot of people but the end product speaks for itself and I don't see anyone else releasing projects like Lemonade or Rennaisance. 

 

As for the pressed, jealous souls trying to diminish her extraordinary talents while they stan Selena Gomez or even worse, Taylor Swift, the jealousy is so transparent.

So it would seem your criteria is moot. Mariah, Madonna, David Bowie, Elton John, etc have all never won it either. It's really not a testament to artistry at all, and certainly not the only one, let alone an important one.

Yeah, I mean.. if everyone could just work with tons of people and churn out masterpieces left and right I'm sure they would. It's simply not that easy, and many have tried. 

 

The only thing connecting the string of amazing albums from 4 -> Cowboy Carter is Bey herself, which speaks for itself.

Not you comparing the 4 AOTY Grammy-winning songwriter to Selena Gomez. How many AOTYs do Selena, Beyoncé and your favorite Janet have?

AOTY is the most prestigeous accolade in the music industry. It's the Grammys version of "Best Picture" so it obviously has quite a lot of importance and prestige. Jay Z literally had a tantrum this year because of her never winning it. They care and It matters. but she's not winning anytime soon because of her lack of input

Not you using the corrupt, racist organization of the Grammys who has gone through several exposes and leadership shakeups as a barometer of quality.

 

By the way, Beyonce is the most awarded person in Grammy HISTORY but mentioned corruption keeps her in specific categories. The answer is pretty obvious and it's why a Black female hasn't won AOTY in 25 years and why Black women have less AOTY awards IN TOTAL than Taylor Swift.

Taylor (4 AOTYs), Adele (2 AOTYs), Billie (1 AOTY), Kacey (1 AOTY) are the only women who won AOTY in the last 20 years and thes are all known and respected as songwriters. There's a big difference between them and Beyoncé.

Never said that. I just compared the female AOTY winners to Beyoncé and why they won over her. The Academy as a whole don't respect her to that degree...she's only respected in r&b/hip-hop genres and her albums only win in genre categories.

Who has tried?

It's very expensive and not cost-effective to make an album this way. The only artist with the privilege of making an album like this is Beyonce because Jay-Z has been supporting her career since she was a teenager. That's why she could make MVs for so many songs in her early albums while her peers had to settle for a few. 

Most artists work with smaller teams and contribute more to the artistry because they don't have the privilege of outsourcing their work.
