Funnily enough, people were calling him a hater when he dragged Crash (and misogynistic of course because DUH). Now he's suddenly a stan. Y'all can't even keep a clear narrative when it comes to this man. He's not misogynistic. He has certain things he looks for in music that are N/A on most "pop girls" albums but also in other genres. I think sometimes he's out of his depth when reviewing certain things, but misogynistic is never a term that comes to mind for him. I don't even be watching him, I just see a viral tweet every time he shits on an album. I don't know what people want from him. Edited June 11 by Wicked Typos. 1

He riles people up cause they base their entire personalities around liking certain musicians, any negative criticism feels like a personal attack. If they are so sensitive over any criticism they simply need to find critics that align with their taste to constantly hear what they want so they won't need to rant so much online. He has also dragged my fave in the past, it really isn't that deep lol. He has his faults of course, but I think he's one of the fairer critics out there even if I often don't agree with him. He is usually pretty good at laying out why he thinks an album does or doesn't work for him so I'm always interested in hearing his thoughts. He also isn't afraid to share his opinions because fandoms are gonna attack him/send him death threats/dox him etc which I appreciate. A lot of critics have become too sugarcoat-y. 1
Escape Posted June 11 Posted June 11 He gives 10/10 for a pop girl and y'all say he's misogynistic? 2
State of Grace. Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) We love you bald king. He stanned HIFN so he was definitely gonna love Brat 3 hours ago, Both Sides Now said: I completely agree. Brat is great but I'm extremely perplexed by the sudden acclaim. The innovation was there with N1A/P2. The rawness and spontaneity was there with HIFN. It feels like a bandwagon. Ultimately, brat will probably fall somewhere in the middle of her discography for me. Better than Crash, Charli and Sucker. Around the same as True Romance. I agree that most of the things that Brat is getting praised for (particularity combining abrasive production & hyperpop with vulnerable lyrics) have been done already on Pop 2 / HIFN, but this time it feels like a combination of all the strengths of her previous works and it's by far her most confessional record. I really think it's mostly critics finally giving her the full due. Not like the other albums were panned, but her scores are finally matching the quality. Edited June 11 by State of Grace. 1
bestfiction Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Brat feels like a culmination of Charli's career, a work from an artist who has proven herself. If there's an album of hers to get a 10, it's this one
Jooj Posted June 11 Posted June 11 3 hours ago, Both Sides Now said: I guess they missed HIFN then In all seriousness, I'm not mad that she's being acclaimed but it just feels odd they chose to champion this one because self-examination is not new territory for Charli. Critically, HIFN was basically paid dust despite achieving everything brat did and more. I don't think there was another album that managed to capture the anxiety, self-reflection and boredom that the pandemic inflicted upon us. Loving the HIFN praise It has always been my favorite Charli album since its release. I do understand why Brat is getting the praise HIFN deserved, tho. I think Brat is more focused and less conceived as a product of its time like HIFN was (since it is basically a quarantine album). Also HIFN is more of a straight up hyperpop record whereas Brat incorporates hyperpop elements while experimenting with other dance/EDM subgenres as well. Critics like genre bending. 1
Kern Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Of course people are defending him now and suddenly not a single 'why do we care about that bald man opinion?' post
Cruel Summer Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I don't think he's had particularly good takes for a while but he ate that one thing, cute to see this after his 9 for Charli a few years ago
skankle Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Huh, well he's always a bit of a wildcard! Wouldn't be surprised to see Brat turn up on his next "10 albums I changed my mind on" video 1
