Pheromosa Posted June 6 Posted June 6 they're just going to raise their prices too...but I might have to go back to apple music if i get this macbook 4
vuelve88 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Apple is just going to raise their prices in the next month or two. And I say this as someone who is paying for Apple Music. 1
Popular Post TrashMagiq Posted June 6 Popular Post Posted June 6 Spotify is so ugly and keeps making their service worse and worse. I used to be a Spotify user but switched to Apple Music in 2020 and it's better in almost every way. The personalised AM radio also has way better song suggestions than the Spotify daily mixes (which would always give me the same few songs they try to shove down users' throats). AM also allows you to change the metadata of songs which is the main reason I switched. The freedom of being able to change covers and add bonus tracks and save music the way I personally want it saved is something I'm never coming back from. Also the audio quality's better. Spotify really got nothing going for it now that I think about it... Except a few gimmicks that don't really add anything to the listening experience. 15
99sandthe2000s Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Imma stick beside my student discounted apple music subscription. I can acknowledge that Spotify overall is likely the superior app, but AM works well, good price and I utilize an app already integrated into my iPhone. Apple does everything I need and they continue to improve on the functionality and features. 2
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted June 6 ATRL Moderator Posted June 6 Apple Music outsold for me. The audio quality alone washes Spotify. 6
Contessa Posted June 6 Posted June 6 AM: audio quality, Dolby atmos (even though I never use it), more varied autoplay/radio recs, albums available before release day, user uploaded music Spotify: wrapped 3
Brikenbur Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) I was an avid Spotify user; obsessed with its UI, Wrapped, DJ mixed playlists, and overall algorithm in introducing me to new artists/music (a feat I think is still superior to Spotify), but switched to Apple Music back in November 2023 after loving how the live album artwork looked, Dolby Atmos, DJ-sets and mixes, and just overall cleaner UI. Since then, I've logged into Spotify and now find it so crowded and amateur-looking compared to AM. And I love my listening stats and AM provides that data weekly/monthly/yearly Edited June 6 by Brikenbur 1

Bhabylon Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The sound quality is better on Apple Music, but literally everything else is better on Spotify. Better UI, better user experience, better algorithm that helps you discover new music that you actually like. Like... it's no competition 5
Capris Groove Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Sorry but I MISS iTunes like crazy. You can't sort in Spotify for ****. You just end up listening to your most recently liked songs. You could customize the **** out of iTunes and it gave you so much user control. Can I do this in Apple Music? You can't even filter music by release year in Spotify. If I want to listen to my '70s music I have to find a playlist and kinda hope they did it half decent. I'm ova it! 1
Into The Void Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I switch3d to AM for like 3 months but switched back to Spotify when I saw 3 months for $10.99 deal lol. What I'll say is I like Release Radar because it tells me of new music I listen to plus I find it gives me better options for finding new music. AM quality is great but after switching Spotifys audio quality to very high and turning of normalize volume it sounds the same as AM.
Rev8 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I guess if you are paying?? But for people who want to listen for free, Spotify is still better. especially me, when I have a hacked version
LovingDays Posted June 6 Posted June 6 As a Spotify user, no. People should start tagging Spotify when they drag them so they can see that WE DO NOT LIKE THEIR CHANGES!
Thesedays Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) They did not lie, but no one is going to make the change. People already have their playlists on Spotify and are used to the interface, etc. The truth is that almost no one cares about sound quality. I hate the Apple Music interface on my computer, so that alone is a reason why I probably won't ever make the change. Edited June 6 by Thesedays 2
Xantalli Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Always been an Apple Music girlie but switched to Spotify just for the funsies of it all BUT went straight back to AM after a few months because the audio quality Spotify serves is actually horrendous to the ears. I will say tho, Spotify did introduce me to new artists. I value sound quality more when it comes to listening to music so that outweighs everything else! Edited June 6 by Xantalli 2
bliaz Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Spotify is like Netflix. Many will complain about the price increase, but then the news comes out that the user base increased and they are still the leader. Most people don't care about hifi audio let alone Dolby. I'm fine with Spotify Family Plan (I love Spotify Connect, btw), the audio isn't perfect, but it's good. Many don't even notice the difference in sound (there are YouTube videos about it). Others say Spotify pays artists less, but what Apple pays is not a big difference, more so for a multi-billion dollar company like Apple. And if I had to switch, I'd go for Tidal or Deezer (for the cell phone. On my Echo Studio speaker I have the exclusive Amazon Music Unlimited subscription for these devices [Dolby, lossless...]; their app for smartphone is horrendous). Apple is too ugly for me Edited June 6 by bliaz 3
Trent W Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Spotify still has better discovery and helps to find new artists and music a lot more Apple music is also great but tbh is hard to find new better artists, is the same mainstream garbage over and over
Taylena Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Better sound quality is not gonna convince people to pay 10+ dollars a month where now they pay nothing with Spotify's free plan option. Maybe if Apple had something like that some would check it out for themselves and realize what they've been missing.
xxxlamb Posted June 6 Posted June 6 i like my master quality Tidal for $12 a month that pays artist better. payment per 1000 streams spotify $4 apple $5 Tidal $12
makeme Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I would never find underground music if used apple music Spotify is the best for that
hallucinate Posted June 6 Posted June 6 apple music is superior spotify is just so ugly to me most people say they prefer it because of the playlists and discovery but i literally never use these features so 1
