Even Lemonade had more impact :rip:

And both are more iconic and impactful than any Gaga album so why are you even talking?

They're doing a bit much with this, especially when you consider the other images on the list.

But as somebody pointed out already, this is definitely an iconic image for 21st century music and pop culture. It's simple yet very symbolic and easily recognizable. Definitely her best album artwork too and one that I feel will have the most staying power alongside the DIL one. I know people raved about the Cowboy Carter one but I don't think it's as effective nor does it evoke the same feeling of importance.

What kind of impact did any of Beys albums have except for a gauge to reveal delusional people?

Well it's a visual nonetheless

In the sense that they were trying to find something even relatively iconic from the past 5 years of pop culture and celebrity zeitgeist, I think it's an okay pick, and it overall mashes decently well with a lot of the themes of the images that were chosen.

But I think a more fitting image overall would've been a paparazzi photo of Brtiney Spear's meltdown, as it does showcase the absolute harrowing side to the celebrity culture and it's effects on people, perhaps moreso women. And let's be real, those images are burned in the head of most people who saw them at the time. Janet Jackson's nipslip would've also been a good choice, though admittedly that's more of a moment rather than a singular picture.

They also debated on Marilyn Monroe or the Kardashians, which admittedly would also be decent picks for different reasons.

beyonce is an incredibly gifted and talented artist, that doesn't mean we need to worship the ground she walks on with publications like this

I agree, these would've been great picks as well and representative of what they were trying to showcase there.

But as they pointed out as well, there's a deeper cultural meaning to what she tried to achieve with this album compared to a pic of Britney spears with the umbrella - highlighting Black queer contributions to music in the culture because, very frequently, those same contributions are erased or attributed to someone else. Especially in pop culture. And that's probably what made them go with it in the end.

Oh, come on!

It's not even among the 25 most important female album covers. Even Beyoncé herself has several more era-defining images than this.

Should've been Kim K's break the internet pic that was completely unavoidable. This cover was a big deal to gay ppl & pop stans but it didn't have widespread reach, sorry!

I feel like this is a narrative certain "culture critics" in high castles are pushing rather than it being organically true.

And Beyonce claiming songwriting credits for the photo in 3, 2, ....too late.

Americans are so self-centered, it's crazy. Most of those pictures are America-defining, not world-defining. About 10 gays know about the Beyonce cover in my country, let alone the whole planet.

No.  She literally has no talent, and is famous for being famous.  Lets not celebrate that.

I like Kim, but no thanks

It's literally an American newspaper.  Why would you expect it to be talking about your country?
