Cbreezy Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The haters will NEVER make me hate this woman lol. Her work ethic is top tier and so is her dedication to her celebrity. Whether her marriage implodes or not, I'm almost certain this "era" of her journey will be monetized into some kind of doc, album, something. Fairly certain her Vegas thing is happening too. Sidebar: The bandwagon hate is bizarre af. I have in "real life" seen people with this revitalized hate for her and when probed on why it's either "um um um" or "I heard on TikTok..xyz". Pathetic. 11 2 2

It's the same as what Selena Gomez and Camila Cabello have experienced on social media. Although, J. Lo has experienced it to a larger extent. I can't put my finger on what these three have in common. 3 1

It's because people think that once a woman turns 50 they reserve the right to tell her she's discarded and done, and when they don't do as they are told and disappear then people start attacking, especially if that woman isn't behaving or dressing in a way that they deem appropriate for a woman of that age. It's happened to so many other female celebrities, J Lo is just the latest one to get this treatment.

Sure there will always be some people who use her age against her but I think the reason the majority of people are not rocking with her is because: - of how she's forced her relationship with Ben down everyone's throats like he's some sort of trophy prize and because of social media/the viral tweets over the last few years, more people are now more aware of: - her stealing Ashanti's vocals - her singing the n-word - her involvement with Diddy - how she teamed up with Tommy Motolla to sabotage Mariah's career 3

Jay L Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I like JLO and I know she works hard but canceling a tour to spend time with family and then being seen immediately after in the studio is not a good look 4 1

She needs to take some time out and regroup. Basically. When you're overexposed and getting backlash for doing anything, you should lay low for a while so that people don't hear about you for while then slowly make a comeback after a year or two. But im sure right now she's so focused on proving herself to the "haters" that she can't see that, things will just get worse for her

As someone who follows R&B/Pop intensely and actually lived a lot of the era the girls are "discovering" and now weaponizing against J.Lo, let's clear up a few things: 1) "Stealing" Ashanti / Christina Milian Vocals: this may be the dizziest and densest one of them all. It was common practice for artists in the 90s/00s to have session singers/BVs featured prominently on their tracks. Listen to most Toni Braxton songs from that time. An entirely different person is singing the CHORUS (Tamar, btw). Same with Spanish Guitar. This notion of "stealing" is so a**-backwards when a) the artists involved have never publicly dragged her about it and b) how can anyone steal something the artist/BV agreed to. 2) N-Word: As a Black person, I'm down with her getting lashed for this. I have never EVER gotten the "pass" adjacent races get for using a word that they have no historical affiliation or affliction attached to. At the same time, we need to keep that same energy with everyone e.g. Fat Joe and a lot of non-Black rappers. Hell, I have the same problem Kendrick has with the likes of Drake using it too. But that's another convo for another day. 3) Diddy Involvement: Ridiculous. By this logic, most of the industry deserves a side-eye. Diddy is trash and is current getting his, but he's also not R. Kelly where so many stood bye and stood blind to the scale of his evils. Again, making any kind of connection to Diddy as a jab to J.Lo is objectively stupid (by dictionary definition). 4) Mariah/Tommy: this one is complicated. As a Lamb, there was definitely an agenda on Tommy's part. But has anyone ever rationalized that Jenny may have simply been a pawn (albeit a complicit one) in someone else's game? Someone wielding way more power than any other person in the equation? I always approach even scandalous scenarios from the perspective of "what would I do if I were x person". With this mindset, the reality is that "a" J.Lo in that drama almost certainly didn't have the power or autonomy some of y'all think she had. More than anything, the "sudden" backlash reminds that a lot of people - sorry to say - move like sheep and simply follow the herd when logic presents itself with a little applied thought. I don't think Jenny is an angel, but a lot of critique is pretty dumb.
