Josh Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Both 3rd albums had major expectations due to how successful their past albums were (The Fame Monster, Future Nostalgia) then the lead single bombed or at least a flop compared to their past singles.
Popular Post TalkThatRihanna Posted May 31 Popular Post Posted May 31 Houdini isn't even half as successful as Applause 20 3
Popular Post Saint James Posted May 31 Popular Post Posted May 31 artpop was fun and entertaining. 19 1
frankvert Posted May 31 Posted May 31 You can call RO the 2020's ARTPOP when it sells 5M+ WW and is top 10 on the IFPI year end chart. It already failed to debut at #1 and probably hasn't even crossed AP's opening week in total units yet 5
Karla Cabello Posted May 31 Posted May 31 the thing is gaga also had already solified a big fanbase at the time, which dua failed to do with future nostalgia
babyforlife Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) NO ARTPOP had Top 5 hit and staying in Top 10 for 12 weeks... Debuted #1 with 258K on BB Hot 200 IFPI Top 10 album YEC Edited May 31 by babyforlife typo 1
Walk_Away21 Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Artpop is honestly unlistenable so idc what the stats say. RO's singles are very good at the least. 3 4 1 8

mike_int Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) I listened ARTPOP the other day in full and damn that album didnt age well. It is loud, overproduced, messy and some lyrics are really personification of cringe and dumb. Compare to BTW or Fame and Fame Monster it really was not good album. Hard to say how will RO age but it is much more straight forward commercial pop album which I dont think will age badly in contrary I think people will start to enjoy some songs after some time. Houdini, TS, and Illusion clear all of Artpop. The only listenable song on that album is Applause. But her vocal delivery on that is even kinda grating. 2 2 1

Artpop is so badly mixed. It's like nails on a chalkboard to your ears. 2
CandleGuy Posted May 31 Posted May 31 No, at least ARTPOP tried something. I know the term Witness Era gets overused in certain circles but......
Johnny Jacobs Posted May 31 Posted May 31 No meltdowns No ped of phile as a feature. So no. Not really
eleganceislearned Posted May 31 Posted May 31 This is like comparing that one flop Camilla album to the legendary Glitter. I'm not sure if the average person knows Radical Optimism exists.
Almodusa Posted May 31 Posted May 31 RO is so boring and won't get any coverage a decade from now 3 2
TROJAN Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Not quite. Applause spent several months in the Hot 100 Top 10, and it's multi-platinum. While the album is Platinum.
