AvadaKedavra Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Wars and these types of conflicts happen all the time. People will forget about Gaza like they did with Ukraine or the Congo The real ones interested in this situation are a minority. People care only about the things affecting their own lives Harsh but true. Celebs will always have power. People priorize their interestes and personal pleasures always
MatiRod Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I think a lot of people feel helpless when it comes to the horrific injustices going on in the world, and media/celebrity culture is a distraction. Right or wrong, I don't think it will go away.
LoveInStereo Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Idk how you came to that conclusion based on those tweets. I'd say it's the total opposite. Ppl subscribing to the fallacy that critiquing public figures will spur real political change is a symptom of how much power chronically online ppl attribute to celebs & how passive we all are. "Tay & Bey need to talk about Palestine" is the truly insane evolution of "where's the sequel to Telephone?". Apply pressure to your elected officials! Protest/sit-in at government buildings. Getting mad in a singer's comments or deleting your fan page as if you did something is just stupid tbh 1

Getting mad in a singer's comments or deleting your fan page as if you did something is just stupid tbh As someone working in gov I can assure everyone no politician takes any popstar seriously like that's just not a thing BUT public pressure and public perception absolutely does play a role, it's the whole reason Israel is actually losing ground this time for the first time in 75 years, their image has changed and it's going to cost them a lot However I can't blame chronically online teenagers for thinking celebrities are the most powerful people on earth, they are most probably mentally ill, don't have a lot of life experience and are bombarded with celebrity images 24/7, so they probably assume visibility = power, and no one is as visible as celebs 1

Lol imagine being that limited and having to ask that question. It's not even true btw, Olympic viewership is female-led. Anyways, a good example of celebrity worship brain rot.
