talentress Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I will say the thing stopping me from fully getting into her music is how, fleeting it feels and the songwriting quality suffers or can be too faint a picture painted. On the long song thing with pop music it leads to this piecemeal multi-part approach all the big albums this year could have been pruned edited better and the work would benefit. Also, repetitiveness is natural in pop doesn't mean it should sound boring.

Kern Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Sometimes I'm getting tired when a song is too long. There's really no need to sing this much and outros etc. are try hard imo
Britney Jean Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Just say you're not a creative person and can't think of giving a bridge to a song. Bring back 3 minute-ish music! 2
Soda Pop Queen Posted May 29 Posted May 29 (edited) I like PP but of course she would have this mentality it does not serve her atm to go against this trend when her entire career thus far benefits from it. Some would even say she was the impetus behind this "tiktokification" of popular music being as she is signed under one of the conglomerates that started the tiktok music deals in 2020. Also, you don't need a long song to have a bridge. Go listen to any classic pop hit of the 60s, especially from the Motown machine. Those were fully formed tunes and almost none of those songs were longer than 3 minutes. Edited May 29 by Soda Pop Queen
Mastamaind Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Homegirl needs to change dealers asap 'cause they're lacing her stuff with crap tbh Imagine telling that to Lana before writing 'A&W' or Radiohead when they did 'Paranoid Android', Tame Impala before 'Let It Happen' or The Beatles before 'Hey Jude', Tool before 'Lateralus'. The nerve.
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I think 3:30-4 minutes is the magic song length, some songs deserve longer though but in general that is the sweet spot. Her songs could benefit from a bridge tbh 1
Alex Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I love her but i'm glad everyone is collectively dragging her because this mentality is serving worms for brains. Gays need to go after Charli XCX next because we need her to bring back bridges too
loveisdead9582 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 … what is this shittastic take? Not every song needs one but news flash - not all songs should be made for Tik Tok. The super short 2:30 minute songs are tired and need to go away. Bridges are a great way to break up a song and add some depth to it. Thankfully the Tik Tok era of music seems to be slowing down a bit (it's still there but after a lot of Music catalogs got pulled…)

Lost In Paradise Posted May 31 Posted May 31 it's way harder to write a full song with two verses, two choruses, a bridge and final chorus that FLOWS her comments just speak to her laziness (and the laziness of 90% of new artists who don't write actual songs, just vibes over production)

It's not bad or good, it's just usually the case. I'm all for care-free meaningless bops. I've been streaming **** Pop: Miami for months Edited May 31 by CottageHore
romas_ld Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I'm sorry Miss Pantheress but I must object, stream my latest single which has not one but SIX bridges and is over 10 min long! 1
DiabeticGrandpa Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) Dumb comment. But what can we expect from someone that calls herself pink pantheress? Edited June 1 by DiabeticGrandpa

Johnny Jacobs Posted June 3 Posted June 3 No bridges? Aka the best part of a song? Chile you are lucky no one checks up on you and listens. Pun intended.
Archetype Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Well she should try harder because it's no coincidence that the longest song on her album (Capable of Love, 3:44) is also the only great song on her album. Everything else is sub-three minutes and mostly forgettable.
Nein Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Isn't she a kpop stan (with f(x) and RV on her stan list)… girl SM runs the bridge industry what are you on about! Bridges are the key to a good song.
