RandomHooker Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Gaga is my all-time fave and the only celebrity I have/will spent/d money on. Katy Perry holds a special place in my heart too. I witnessed her debut and her music was part of my life too. Rooting for both

shimind Posted May 26 Posted May 26 This is not 2013 and we are not kids anymore. Both fanbases im sure will support each other as we have moved on from the 2013 mess except some whiny teens in adult bodies who are still stuck in 2013
Junipero Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I feel like Katy Perry might have a Top 10 this time around considering she is working with the new Dr. L*ke proteges. I am pretty sure its going to be recycled Doja Cat beats. I don't know where Gaga is headed this time around, however I am dying for a RedOne reunion, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. 1
flower moon Posted May 26 Posted May 26 not even much of a fan of katy but im actually so excited theyre both releasing tbh

Batsy Armada Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I'd love to see Katy be successful again, and I do hope it happens for her, but I feel like Gaga is going to have the bigger moment and come out on top—especially with the release of Joker: Folie à Deux. She's going to have a lot going for her, and I don't think she's going to disappoint.

superben Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) Neither will have a #1 album and/or a top 10 hit. Edited May 26 by superben
Suilen Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I feel like Gaga has a head start, but Katy also had this comeback narrative going for her, so it could go either way. Would be cute to see both succeed to some extent, though.

halcyonday Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I want both to devour. We are tired of the boring girlies. Gaga and Katy need to show us how to serve a fun era.
Badgalbriel Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I'm rooting for Gaga, but I feel like Katy learned from her mistakes and will release something people want to hear. Also, there's seems to be a lot some sort of excitement towards her this time, while I haven't see much for Gaga, even after the LG7 teaser.
Europe Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I am sure both of them will release better music than Olivia/Billie/Dua, and that is all that matters. Katy & Gaga are pop royalty
xfreshkidxx Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) Hopefully they both serve and do good. If I had to choose though. Id lean more towards Gaga since shes in a better position but theres been a bit of hype for a Katy comeback so she could surprise everyone. Edited May 26 by xfreshkidxx
Storm653 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) Afaik, Gaga's last album went Platinum, had global appeal, had a number 1 smash hit that still plays on the radio, and sparked a successful(albeit abbreviated) stadium tour. And she got one of her old songs(Bloody Mary) to rechart and do well and made a hit for Tog Gun Maverick. Smile was far less successful than Chromatica and even DJ Alesso could only do so much to help Katy come back. You can argue that there's a lot of nostalgia for Katy's old run/imperial phase but nostalgia isn't the same as relevance. I think Gaga has more cross-generational appeal and cross-genre appeal than Katy. Boomers, Zoomers, Metalheads, and Indie fans are probably more likely to be Gaga fans than Katy fans in 2024. But who knows? Anything is possible these days. I never thought Dua would start to lose her momentum/hot streak but here we are. Edited May 26 by Storm653

mike_int Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I hope they will all deliver great quality albums, but I feel like Gaga has advantage since Katy's "hiatus" of successful song seemed too long

Storm653 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 33 minutes ago, halcyonday said: because DJ Alesso is so popular, right? Well, the song she did with him was somehow more globally successful than 90% of songs on Smile so, in a nutshell, you're proving my point.
