I wouldn't expect him to come out and scorch-earth condemn the speech because that could cause problems with his relationship with his teammate. Regardless of differing views they both have an expectation to play well together. would somebody think of the multimillionaire white cishet man, please? 4 2 18

I'm not commenting on how sympathetic his situation is. your first comment was trying to reposition the conversation into a more sympathetic perspective of him, though. like, is it difficult to condemn his position regarding his teammates speech, or...? The sympathy is incidental — I don't actually agree with his response here. I'm just trying to point out some nuance behind his decision to address the speech in the way he did. He's contractually obligated to play team sports with this man and with that comes interpersonal complications that I think are reflected in his wishy-washy response.

I think most in here are aware of that, but okay. Glad to know you don't agree with his reponse at least.
Patient Zero Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Why do people give religious people a free pass for being assholes? "familiy values" **** off 2 3
Popular Post Zylo Posted May 24 Popular Post Posted May 24 While I get why he responded like this…If he had just kept it at "I don't agree" it'd be fine. A response like this just makes everyone annoyed, because everyone can smell the disingenuous word vomit from a mile away. But even if it is PR talk, if someone has done something so bad/controversial to the point where the vitriol of it is not even up for debate; your response being how great they are to people when you have been around them…is terrible. The very precedent you set with that line of thinking. Bye 17
Orsay Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Why is he talking about his family/upbringing like that to his own brother?
Peroxide Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Yeah I'm not a fan of how he's talking about him given the comments his "teammate" made. 1 1
Popular Post LikeATattoo Posted May 24 Popular Post Posted May 24 (edited) Despite all my years on Earth, I'm still so fascinated by what stan goggles are able to do to people lol. "He literally said he doesn't agree!!1" Do you queens even bother to read your BS back to yourselves before you hit post? This is how bigots are protected and normalised — by having individuals who supposedly don't share the bigots' views (and can thus be characterised as credible in their own right) defend them. "I [self-described good person with valid opinion] don't agree with [insert white supremacist rhetoric here], but Damon is a good guy." "I [self-described good person with valid opinion] don't agree with [insert misogynistic rhetoric here], but Anthony is a good guy." "I [self-described good person with valid opinion] don't agree with [insert homophobic rhetoric here], but Scotty is a good guy." Like…are y'all serious with these replies? Is Taylor's arrested development coffee shop music really worth your intellectual integrity? Edited May 25 by LikeATattoo 12 7 1
Sergi91 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Taylor Swift is no different than Meghan McCain… both supporting the gays (when it's convenient) with far right republican partners. 2 2
The7thStranger Posted May 24 Posted May 24 He may not feel the same way as his teammate, but he also has the social currency to not be affected by the horrible things said.
