JoeAg Posted May 24 Posted May 24 whew her instagram posts gagged the sh*t out of me a few minutes ago, I just KNOW she's coming back with what made her special in the first place!! I can feel her passion and hunger back in the forefront
Lagerfeld Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Oh lord... it better be different POP music. I'll tell you that.
Cbreezy Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Love Gaga, so naturally very excited at the prospect of new music. Maybe I'm growing up (as a stan and in general) or maybe I've just lived enough eras of hers, but I'm struggling to take this as anything other than hyperbole to hype the fans. While saying a lot, she didn't really say...anything lol. Which is very on-brand for Gaga in general but especially of late. Her articulation about her music, movies, etc is often overly verbose, faux artsy, and too damn much (for what it ends up being) lol. IIRC, she did a lot of this for Chromatica, which I love more than most, but it's ultimately a relatively easy-on-the-ear dance-Pop album. Nothing groundbreaking or warranting of the extraness she verbalized around it. And I don't even mean this as shade, it's a pretty funny part of her schtick that I accept stanning her. But I say that to say, I'm not particularly tickled by her description. I just hope it's a) good (whether the sound is groundbreaking or not) b) mass-consumable. I want the era and the success Chromatica deserved if not for the panini and c) promoted to the max. Edited May 24 by Cbreezy 3 1

I think y'all set yourselves up for disappointment just because you create this narrative in your head that Gaga will recreate her previous work each era however all of her albums are different, have their own sound and theme. While Chromatica was the closest to TFM/BTW it sounds nothing like it. She succeeded in reinveting herself each era and that's what makes her different, that's what makes her Gaga. I am very much hyped for her next era and I know it'll be a transition from the Gaga we think we know. She has so much more to offer and I cannot wait for everyone to see. I choose to remain her biggest fan and still look at her as MOTHER MONSTER because I enjoy the music more than you guys care about charts/number 1s and grammys. She proved herself and that's what makes her next era even more exciting! I'm glad the fanbase is cleaning itself from people like you, who don't enjoy Gaga as an artist, but rather look at her as a popstar that has the obligation to offer you the music you want! 8 1

I mean almost a decade without releasing a truly good body of work! I was hoping Chromatica would be cutting-edge and experimental with works of Sophie and Boys Noize, Doss and Lsdxoxo... That's your opinion though. The only post-2013 t Gaga album that people can collectively say that's bad is "Joanne" ASIB is good, and Chromatica is a decent album. Just because you didn't f with the music, doesn't mean they are bad! 1
jees Posted May 24 Posted May 24 After the conceptual mess that was ARTPOP and then the boring trash Joanne, she headed the right way with Chromatica, hopefully she does it right and regain her crown.

She has never taken a 4 year gap before. It will be so worth it. 1 1

Fair enough, but honestly I think Joanne is still a better album than Chromatica because it was something new from her (for me it was a bad album coming from her). But what bothers me about Chromatica is that it's a dance album and it's her field, she failed on this one and that hurts a bit like she has all the money to get the best producers the most unique artists and still does that. I just believe she lost the fire on her eyes post-artpop 3

Yeah, you're doing too much. It's giving emotional fan response for no reason. We all love Stefani and it's ok for stans to consume her differently or have contrasting wants and needs from her musically. I watched almost every Chromatica interview and, while she didn't tout it as musically groundbreaking, she constantly harped on about the artistic "depths" she dived into and the harrowing process she claimed it was piecing it together. All of which very well may be true, but the end product (which, again, I actually love) just didn't present as that. It gave very fun, upbeat, dark-light Dance-Pop. As a day 1 fan, I'm well versed in her schtick, so know that her hyping can result in amazingness (like TFM, ARTPOP, and to a degree BTW) as well as generally solid projects (like Chromatica). Equally, it can end up being a Joanne or just not live up to the quality of what she pre-presented it to be. So I (and others) are in their full right to greet her words with a little caution. I'm intrigued, but will reserve the fullness of my excitement until my first listen of the lead single. And that's...ok. Edited May 24 by Cbreezy 1
babycomeround Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I just need something that pushes boundaries and is good. Gaga talks a good game but outside of the Fame Monster, her albums are very hit or miss. I'm not sure if she has the range anymore but I would love to be surprised and she drops her magnum opus.
Hephaestus Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Oh I see she's put the Lady to sleep for a little while and she's back to her Gaga antics WE'RE SO BACK! 1
Cbreezy Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Oh, and relative randomness, but no Chromatica slander will be tolerated lol. I legitimately feel a lot of stans disassociate with that era because of the PTSD of the circumstances around it. Strong start, but pretty much foiled by the pandemic. Stupid Love was objectively terrible but charted well, ROM went #1 and there was so much promise. And then...nothing. IIRC no one had an issue with the album upon release. We were all excited and were collectively resolute about Sour Candy needing to be "the" single. Babylon too. We were buzzed about the tour and were ready for the promo. The various restrictions clipped her wings and I will never forget the groan we let out when we found out how big the promo was meant to be (SNL, pop-up appearances etc). It's all here in black and white on ATRL. The revisionist history and purposeful disassociation with releases not seen as "successful" is one of my biggest irritations with stan culture. Fans will switch on a release in broad daylight (after initially stanning) because the collective take is "it flopped" or "where is the promo". Both points may hold, but in no way reflect the actual...music. Anyway, onto LG7. Edited May 24 by Cbreezy
