I don't really think she's the best for the job, HOWEVER, some the reasons cited here don't really seem to have much of a point. This is an acting job. Whatever lack of personality or sass you perceive Dua to have matters very little if she can at least act that way after provided a script. And actually she does have a very dry natural delivery, so I can see her embodying the role if she also has the talent to deliver lines, as well.

 

But I'd hope this version of the film isn't a musical because if it is, we need someone who can actually belt. Disney movies of the 1990s are essentially Broadway musicals.

ariana is my main mother but i dont think shed fit the role at all. meg has a huskiness to her tone both speaking and singing. i think dua makes a better choice. that being said, id rather someone else lol
