Ciel Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Much more enjoyable than Sling on first listen & I can see some songs growing on me but she's probably never going to top Immunity for me I fear
50thStateofMind Posted July 12 Posted July 12 great album looking forward to my next listen. Add Up My Love might be soty tho
JoeAg Posted July 12 Posted July 12 giving this a first listen rn on my walk home from my best friend's
selena_lavigne Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) As a fan of her debut, i didn't pay too much attention during my first listen, but, i didn't really like it. I feel like some of these artists who had great debuts, like The Marias and now Clairo are turning their discography into more background music sounds. Just not for me. And with both of them Run Your Mouth and Sexy To Someone were pretty good and not background music. Idk what is happening. Edited July 12 by selena_lavigne
On The Bound Posted July 12 Posted July 12 the 1-2 ending punch of glory of the snow and pier 4...wow 3
marty_xcx Posted July 12 Posted July 12 definitely prefer this to the antonoff production on sling, but it still lags in some spots. immunity remains, well, immune. i also wish the songs on charm centered her voice a bit more. sometimes i feel like she's lost in the mix. immunity puts her front and center and i love that.
Αnt Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Listening to this album while it's raining outside is such a mood. So good!
smholiv Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I was nervous about this after Sling admittedly but this fixes a lot of the issues I had with that album in that it feels more lush production wise, the melodies are a bit more memorable, and the balance between the production work and her vocals feels more harmonious. I think this album is super beautiful!! However I became a fan during the EP/Immunity days so I think I'll always kind of wish for more of that Immunity in particular is one of my favourite albums from 2019. Even still this is a great album and she's 2/3 for me Love a Clairo release day tbh
perfect blue Posted July 13 Posted July 13 This is so good, Sexy to Someone and Add Up My Love are my favs 1
eli's_rhythm Posted July 14 Posted July 14 This is fantastic imo, an evergreen picnicking/dinner party album. No it's not incredibly engaging or immersive but it is lovely everyday walking / cooking / errand running music with occasional lyrical and sonic flourishes that really pull you in. 3
Scandalous Posted July 14 Posted July 14 i thought i'd like this more because i love STS but that one's by far the best song here, definitely too boring and samey once you hit the middle tracks
Lachlan Posted July 16 Posted July 16 It's all very same-y but still a pleasant listen. Immunity will remain her best if she continues down this route. 1
needs Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Glory of the Snow is so great. Whatever instrument or production element is used at the end is gorgeous 1
