Witness deserves better than this. It just proves that the media right now has too much power in effecting the GP. They rated the album as bad, and people believe it's bad.

In reality, it's way better than Prism, but the promotion strategy fails, the singles choice fails, and it leads Katy to this horrible chart placement.

It's not her Artpop, it's not even her Bionic or Lotus, Witness is the new standard in terms of low sales.

At least she got those live stream views, right?
Surely those accounted for a large portion of total sales minus the bundles. When will others? :clap3:

Makes me wonder how bad it could have gotten if it wasn't for the live stream. :dancehall:

1. -96.43% - 28,003 (#1) to 1,000 (#4) - "The Life of Pablo", Kanye West
3. [-91.36% - -89.51%] - 162,071 (#1) to [14,000 - 17,000] (#18), "Witness", Katy Perry"

some ticket bundle albums second week

Madonna - MDNA (2013)

359,369 -> 47,696 -86.7%

Chainsmokers - Memories... Do Not Open

166,044 -> 25,210 -84.8%

Halsey - Hopeless Fountain Kingdom

75,551 -> 13,107 -82.6%

Katy prediction is 89.5% ~ 91.3%

Madonna 36 US show

Chainsmokers 36 US show

Halsey 30 US show

Katy Perry 48 US show

Number of shows doesn't matter, pretty sure Madonna had more attendance than Katy will have with her 48 shows.

Katy not being an a list artist ever is bs

plus she was bound to fall but not like dis :deadbanana:

Mte She has always been A lister (after 2010) and some people do love her.  There was this dutch guy in my previos work that looked like Kurt Cobain :smitten:  And he used to tell me how Firework had become his theme songs and all of his friends think of him when they hear the song :skull:

I don't think the media is responsible tbh.  Yes they unfairly panned the album, but it's not like metacritic makes any difference in the grand scheme of things, look at TD, PRISM etc.

It's just some people really just don't like Katy.  I tried so hard with my 2 best girlfriends and they listened to 1-2 songs form Witness and just said that they can't LISTEN to Katy's voice :rip:   And honestly some songs could've sounded even better if someone else sang them I get where they are coming from.

You can't compare Bionic and Lotus to Witness, the sales back then were totally different.

Witness will still end up nbeing bigger than those, and definitely much bigger than Glory and BJ :rip:

but positions on chart can be compared, witness will end up being in same league if it doesn't rebound

Witness already have 3 singles and it will sure add another 1 or 2 singles. More promoted and more singles than Glory and BJ combined, of course It will sell more but MORE in the range of 50k or 70k maybe :skull:

Some people are saying Kanye has the highest second-week drop, some are saying it's Bon Jovi and others are saying Shawn Mendes.

The pure sales number really is not that bad. It was a massive drop from 170k pure sales but everybody knew that was lead by ticket bundle redemptions. It is sort of weird that it is so low though because she had more tickets go on sale Thurs/Fri.

The SPS is abysmal though. No way you can defend that. :toofunny2:

Well yes, I guess.  But also when you include streaming and touring, Katy will have done a lot better than the other albums by Xtina and Britney.

that's also relative to competition.  You can't really compare peaks either, because for example Bad Romance is much bigger than 80% of songs that went number 1.

Paparazzi peaked at number 5 and has sold as much as many number 1s and so on.

Also Katy's first week is much bigger than those 4 albums, so it doesn't matter that much where she is 2nd week compared to the others in their 2nd weeks.

I am not saying Witness isn't underperforming severely, but yeah these comparisons are kind of invalid.

Witness is objectively the worst album ever created by a major pop star why is everyone surprised by these numbers :skull:
