Shawn Mendes did like 88% as well.

Well, Katy is 89-92% so I guess we have a new winner for biggest 2nd week percentage drop of all time! The crazy thing is it's not even like she had far to fall. MDNA did double the numbers and BTW did 5x the numbers. Let's be frank, the numbers speak for themselves - this is a total disaster. Edited June 21, 2017 by jinzo
mike3009 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I think Shawn Mendes fell like 91%, idk if she will surpass that
Sexy Boy Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 The saddest part is that some % of these new sales are still a bundle
Mariano Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) oh wow and this is also with some tickets that went on sale on Friday I don't understand tbh. But the fact she doesn't have a song in top 50 has to be a sign. Every other pop girl had at least a top 10 on itunes in the first 2 weeks of release. Even Britney's Make Me was perched at number 2 on Itunes in the first week of Glory and Katy couldn't even crack top 40 with any song Edited June 21, 2017 by Mariano
dan.harry Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Now no one's gonna talk about Lorde snatching that #1 spot. Everyone's here for Katy's T R A G I C drop

B-Luke Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Quote In its second week, Handwritten descended to number seventeen with 20,000 equivalent album units, of which 12,000 copies were pure album sales, an 89% pure album sales decrease (from 106,000 copies), surpassing Madonna's MDNA (2012) for the biggest second-week percentage drop for a number-one debuting album in the Nielsen SoundScan era. Quote This House Is Not for Sale also suffered the largest second-week pure sales drop for a #1 in Top Album Sales during its second week, of 91.71 percent, down to 11,000. So technically Bon Jovi had the biggest decline but it's Top Album Sales. Will Katy become the female Bon Jovi?

Yes, but BB's numbers were actually lower than HDD's for Witness' first week, so....

I'm not really sure if anything else on the album would have made a better lead or second single either tbh. Witness was her best shot. BA and Swish Swish were terrible. 2. She took too long to release. The public simply moved on, not to mention her style of music isn't popular right now. Unless you have a really established base, you can't take so much time off while releasing nothing in between. 3. Her looks were very off putting this era and it matters more than people think, unfortunately. Time to go back to the drawing board. I don't think her career is over. She just needs a good song to come back with and THAT seems to be most of these girls biggest problem. The try hard antics aren't working anymore and sure as hell aren't going to get people to stream your music on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Time to focus on releasing good music. I am not a fan, but the music isn't bad The singles were bad (besides Swish Swish which is fun) but the album has so many great tracks. Power, Witness, Hey Hey Hey, Deja Vu, Roulette, Tsunami, Miss you more and even more She simply had the worst roll out and singles chosen. The album doesn't deserve this tbh. Witness should've been single 1. Then something more interesting like Hey Hey Hey and she would've done so well. The album should've been out in May or even late April.
