Is 4 weeks at #1 the ceiling for success now? :ahh:

It's not at all :rip:

but taylor is purposely shipping out these multiple variants of her album in this particular week because a certain 22 year old female artist called out miss thang's poor mass produced vinyl practices. she wants to be #1 over her to "teach" her a lesson to not try it with her again. its clear as day and swifties admit this and take pride in it which is just too much

Can you really blame Taylor when it's the swifties that keep eating up everything she puts out? You should blame the consumer more than the creator. The capitalist queen outputs goods that are in demand  :coffee:

Yes we can, cause she reinforces it, she wants it, she solidifies such parasocial behaviour.

And dressed with a bit of pop white feminism, we have a perfect neoliberal narrative of success story. Vomit.

You know, it's actually pretty fun rooting for the villain of pop.

Or, the Anti-Hero, as it were.

It's never a boring time. I'm curious what the ratio of BDILH CDs to signed CDs to digital VM sales was this week for TTPD, it could be insightful to learn if there are any more being held back :gaycat4:

Why wouldn't we take pride in it? Our fave works harder than ANYONE in the industry. She deserves to be rewarded accordingly.

He dropped Views right after Lemonade on a last minute decision. Lemonade only got 1 week at #1 due to that

He dropped Her Loss right after Midnights

Well, putting aside all this mess, it's nice to see good numbers for the top 2, especially with the hillbilly still in the top 3 wanting to return to #1.

This is such a weird mentality of treating it like a sport rather than a reflection of what people are consuming in a week

well the most consumed album in pure sales and streaming units this week is the one and only The Tortured Poets Department

idk why it's being seen as taylor slighting billie for that vinyl statement, it's taylor's team wanting to maintain the #1 streak for as long as possible; they're absolutely petty for attempting to take that from an artist, yes, and i still think billie will get it in the end, but i doubt taylor swift herself said "ship the vinyls"

billie has been extremely stable on streaming and we know she's one of the best pure sellers so i don't think it's gonna be particularly difficult to pass taylor

THOTS should move their focus to racist Morgan Wallen. He's the one that needs to be dealt with!

I think Taylor is doing what she has to do

It's nasty and lowkey disgusting but this is how you achieve supremacy

Olivia and Billie are a threat to her market, her and her team know this and she has been sabotaging both in the last few years

Taylor wants to be the biggest artist all time and these newer girls can steal her market easily at any moment so yeah.

I sadly understand what she's doing :skull:

What happened with the increase for TTPD? Did something change or was something rolled out?

The way there is no fighting back against this from Billie's side that won't make her a complete hypocrite she really set herself up

Madonna was shading her contemporaries left and right in the 90s. Janet, Mariah, and Whitney had their retaliatory moments too. It's just the competitive nature of the industry, and it's a component of an ascent to the top. At the end of the day these minuscule footnotes in their careers aren't what they're remembered for, but the lasting legacy of their artistry & the numbers that back it up.

Plus it's entertaining as hell to witness in real time. :dies:
