Hated it on first listen, overcorrected and thought it was great for about two weeks after, now the new factor has worn off and it's still decent but I'm already kinda done going back to it + The Anthology is mostly unlistenable

It ranks 5th out of 11.  Better than her "bad" albums but just shy of her classics.

Why did you ask this to a general forum that does not like her right now :rip: this would've been better off in base or the album thread if you wanted a more accurate census.

For me, evermore is still her best. It's more concise and it's got a nostalgic + sentimental comfort for me. TTPD sits proudly in 2nd place though. With her worst album being Debut or Lover, and I'm leaning towards Lover :gaycat2:

So you think you're gonna get a more fair assessment by asking stans? Besides you guys downvote any opinion that isn't praise. Here you can perhaps ignore all the "her worst album" and "her best album" takes and read some of the more sober opinions instead. Cause this album is quickly turning into Swifties' ARTPOP/Chromatica, where you guys are convinced it was misunderstood and unfairly panned because of her public persona/current popularity and that years down the line it will be proclaimed as a wonderful album etc etc.

This one is clearly a record for the fans, the songs by themselves might come as okay-ish to the casual listeners, but to someone that who knows the whole context behind most of the songs, you can pretty much experience it from different lens that elevate the entire record a lot. That's the thing about autobiographical music I fear:jonnycat:

It's 5th or 6th place for me.

Evermore, red, folklore, and 1989 are clearly ahead of it. Whether it beats Speak Now or not is up for debate and I haven't settled on its placement there. But I'd take it before Midnights, Rep, Lover, Debut, and Fearless.

my exact thought process :rip:

this got old fast right?

It's her 2nd worst album after DEBUT.

This would put TTPD at #10 in her discography.

:sorry:

This thread showing taste.

Artpop and Chromatica weren't stable and rising on charts

GP reception is much more positive

Literally her most stable album on streaming

Comparison doesn't make sense

There is world outside critics score.

Currently it stays at #3, right behind Folklore & 1989, doubt it will climb but I don't see it leaving the top 5.

Still #1. The Anthology (aka Evermore 2) in particular is still holding incredibly strong.

evermore and folklore are still her magnum opuses. TTPD would be either 3rd or 4th in her discog for me. I go back and forth between TTPD and RED for which should take the 3rd spot, but I'm leaning more toward TTPD

I think I've concluded it's her fourth best - behind Folklore, 1989 and (maybe) Red…

I absolutely adore the first volume. The only songs I don't click with are Florida and The Alchemy, everything else is top tier Taylor and is light years better than Midnights.

As much as I love it - I think we needed an Anti-Hero/Cruel Summer moment. A proper Taylor "banger" is sort of missing… ICDIWABH is cute but I know she's capable of much better.

The main issue is (and many fans disagree with me) - The Anthology. It's excessive, bloated and feels recycled. With the exception of 5/6 songs it feels largely unneeded…

So that kinda dims the shine of the project as a whole… it's like watching a movie with a killer first half and a mid/okay second half… by the end you just want it to finish. That being said, there's too much good here for me to place it any lower than fourth.

You think so? Don't be so harsh on those songs. Having YNTCD on blast occasionally. An Anthem! Period
