KingWitch Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Its getting less and less popular for artists in popular music to sing songs that are too vocally demanding because people can't sing along to them easily. Even Ariana has to tone it down a bit in her songs. 3

Except for Doja, DuaTate and Billie, all of the other girls are disposable label trends who have no business being in a recording booth, much less on a stage. fixed it for you
BrokenMachine Posted May 13 Posted May 13 The GP is here for mediocrity. Once they see someone like Demi trying to be a vocalist they'll drag her by saying she's being 'extra' or 'annoying'. You can see how even Ariana slowed it down with her own vocals after her first albums and now it's mostly whisper pop 2
QuanticXplosion Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Lady Gaga? She has never been regarded as such and you should embrace sis for what she is and not for what you think she should be embraced for. The GP does not think of Lady Gaga when they think of vocalists and there is NOTHING wrong with that. 1

swissman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I'm still waiting on a true vocal era from Ariana. I know she has great vocals always, but she's never really used them as a weapon.

Why the top-tier pop vocalists keep decrease in quantity over time? Why do we only have Ariana Grande as the only popular vocalist now? Is it because people want to stan Taylor Swift nowadays so they neglect the vocalists? There should be some very obvious changes to this list. First of all Adele should be in the 10s alongside Ariana. No one was more defined as a "vocalist" by the GP for the 2010s like Adele, not even Ariana. Also why is Ariana there twice for two decades but no one else was afforded that same luxury? Aretha was a MPV well into the 1980s, same with Barbra. Whitney and Céline were more successful as MPVs in the 1990s than the 1980s yet are listed there. Is this just thinly a veiled Ariana appreciation thread?
lustforyou Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Because Ariana, Gaga, Beyonce, and Adele already still fulfill that niche. All of those are still A+ list singers that are relevant. They haven't left the scene, so there hasn't been a need to "replace" them. Also, while I know they aren't the same type of vocalist, Miley and Olivia also kinda fill the niche of "great vocalists" for the GP. And that's plenty to keep them satisfied for now
