According to ChartMasters, yes.

Their total units:

Billie Eilish - 46,717,000 (2 albums + 1 EP)

Lana Del Rey - 44,691,000 (8 albums)

Billie has 2 Oscars and 9 Grammys, while Lana has none.
What does ATRL think? Has Billie surpassed Lana? Discuss.

Lana originally walked so that Billie could run. Now, they're both running side by side, and we LOVE to see it

Commercially? For sure.

Culturally, it's pretty even, but I think Billie is slightly higher.

Cult-Wise? Lana for sure, her fanbase is huge and she's already a legend within the music industry, Billie is getting there, but Lana has solidified herself as one of the greats like Kurt Cobain & other icons.

Commercially, Billie has sold more units, so yes.

Maybe commercial wise but they're peers in the end of the day, perched for a future collab

Billie, like many of the rap girls in regard to Nicki, owe a lot of the success and impact they have with their sound to Lana. It feels wrong to compare when their careers are so different and serve such different purposes in the history of pop music.

More like Lana seems to be catching up to Billie. It's not a jab at Lana but since 2019 it's finally been accepted to like her openly and she's finally getting her flowers she's deserved whereas Billie was an overnight thing but always makes it clear she's here thanks to lana

Yeah but somehow as someone above mention it feels more like Lana is catching up, Lana had a rocky start and as time has progressed she's getting more love and more support so she now gets more sucess than she didn't receive when she started (Although she started sucessful but you know what I mean)

commercially and award wise obviously but lana is lowkey even more popular and respected today than she was a decade ago and she'll always have the bigger impact on the music scene and her peers bc duh

Comercially, yes. Not in terms of impact tho.

These types of questions are too complex to answer straight. Lana grew out of the tumblr era. The average person doesn't check or see numbers the way ATRL does, but they do remember the aesthetics and cultural reset Lana made, which ultimately allowed her to slow burn and outstream countless MPGs. She's the only one that really had that type of effect and it stands out. Billie's appeal is a lot different, but she obviously had the massive hits that Lana never had.

Critically and commercially.... well YES! Personally I like Lana's music better (until she got lazy and boring after NFR) but Billie still has a long way to go when it comes to impact. Shes so young though so she can definitely surpass Lana there too. :cm:

On a level that can be measured tangibly by statistics such as awards and album units, sure. Culturally? Never.
