Timber Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) And before you say people don't care celebrities think, yes they ******* do, especially some of this caliber. It's so disappointing that some of these girls are/were leaders for so many important topics but they won't stand up for something as important as this. Lorde - Yes Dua Lipa - Yes Bilie Eilish - Yes Olivia Rodrigo - Yes SZA - Yes Marina and the Diamonds - Yes Gaga - No Taylor - No Beyonce - No Adele - No Lana Del Rey - No Rihanna - No Britney Spears - No Katy Perry - No Madonna - No Shakira - No J Lo - No Mariah Carey - No Ariana Grande - No Sabrina Carpenter - No Nicki Minaj - N0 Edited May 9 by Timber 4 10 17
CherryBay Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Reputation money and backlash probably they just don't want to get involved in something that could damage their image
Leppie Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I find it so hard to understand why Alicia has not said anything, especially considering her husband is Muslim Although the zionists did cancel her for going paragliding 1
Popular Post Suilen Posted May 9 Popular Post Posted May 9 The older girls are aligned with the establishment, and the establishment is pro-Israel, so they won't say (or can't) anything against that. Gaga's acting career, for instance, might sustain a serious damage, and the industry's recognition seems to be a huge priority for her these days, so... But some of them don't have much to lose (due to being too big/legendary), so it could be their personal belief more than anything. 15
Popular Post Domination Posted May 9 Popular Post Posted May 9 Journalists getting fired for speaking out, media personalities getting fired for speaking out, tech workers getting fired for speaking out… is it not obvious? 21 1
Pillz Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) Has Madonna really said nothing? I know she's advocated for peace in the region before, I'd be shocked if she says nothing now that her tour is done. Edited May 9 by Pillz 5
playwithme Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Why are they supposed to show support for Palestine? Pop girls do not have to weigh in on every issue. 9 10
Polgg48 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 they are singers/recording artists, not specialists in the field as politician or human right activists. we only care if they smash on chart serve bops or panned flop. unless they got bills to speak out from their masters and be puppets for news flash. 2 8
no_better Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Say about yours because both Lorde and Georgia Ellery (of Jockstrap and Black Country, New Road fame) did speak out 1
Popular Post PoisonedIvy Posted May 9 Popular Post Posted May 9 I'm sorry but I literally DON'T want entertainers speaking up on geopolitical conflicts. Like, I actually don't. Leave that to the activists and politicians. People who actually spread thorough, well researched, and articulate information on the matters. I don't need virtue signaling, I need action plans & reform. 21 2 2
watermelonshake Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I remember a while back Halsey saying she initially didn't speak out because she really didn't need violent threats against her and her child coming from all directions but she did change her mind and say something. I can imagine some others might have similar reservations. 2
Kayseri Mantisi Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Lorde spoke about it several times, Team went viral with Palestine support videos, she also donated big amounts. She was talking about this & supporting Palestine even before the genocide, in 2017. 8 2

Red Velvet Posted May 9 Posted May 9 I think celebrities have stopped pubicly supporting issues like this due to the contribution not being deemed "enough." So not only do they get huge backlash from people who don't agree, but the target audience also turns against them. It's a bit of a lose-lose situation so its better for them to quietly support. 10

Such as this one from January: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2dWuFzI_GF/?igsh=MW9iNzR6dnNhZ2U4bA== Her dancers were more outspoken on their socials though. More than pop stars though, I'm more surprised that a lot of those progressive stand-up comedians, who were quite vocal on many political issues in the past (particularly women), are totally silent.

popmusicisdead Posted May 9 Posted May 9 who's we? not my fave, Saintgelina Jolie that's for damn sure 6

It's like asking your doctor, hairdresser, the person that bags your groceries if they support Palestine. what is this comparison? does your doctor & hairdresser have the millions/billions of reach and engagement like these celebrities do? they don't even have a platform to educate people about things or spread facts so of course they don't need to talk about anything lmao. no one is forcing celebrities to talk about Palestine, but so many people are unaware of what's going around the world in their daily life, and when celebrities speak up about it, these people become aware of what's happening. not when your hairdresser speaks about it. 9 2
LustSpell Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) Because our faves are not activists, they are music stars. Not everyone needs an opinion on everything. It's incredibly childish and immature to think so. Edited May 9 by LustSpell 12 1
