Armani? Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Just now, Aethereal said: I thought it out streamed Smile in Spotify? Yeah, by less than 200M which is only like 125k more converted. Witness has more pure sales difference than that.

Expected to debut in the top 3 in the US with around 60,000 units. Lead single peaked in the top 15, third single peaked in the 40s. Second album opened to moderate numbers but had tremendous longevity and a repeak due to a re-issue. Bunch of collabs (including one with Calvin Harris) in between the albums. Last single prior to the album was a smash soundtrack single for one of the biggest movies of the year. Dua Lipa the female Ellie Goudling confirmed? I'm crying 5

Havoc Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I'm confused as far as why people thought this album would be a success...? She isn't a huge star. This album was bound to fail without a huge smash. 1

This album was bound to fail without a huge smash. I think the smashery of FN threw some of us off. FN smashed because it's an impeccable album with bop after bop, and was executed with a coherent image and sound. Of course she benefited from being the only big pop era during the early pandemic, she had the lane to herself. Now she's competing in a crowded market, releasing a week after Taylor. The other issue is the album itself. I can't tell what the cohesion/theme is on RO, it feels like a pleasant collection of mid dance-pop songs, but nothing really hits. 3 1
Roberto Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Her biggest debut in her flop era? What a winner, tbh. Radically optimistic about this album. 1 1

This album was bound to fail without a huge smash. Given that Dua's coming off the heels of a successful tour and its parent album moving around 4M units in the US, plus a hit Barbie droplet not even a year ago, it seemed reasonable to expect some of that goodwill to carry over into a new album cycle regardless of it being lead by a hit single or not. If you had asked me in November, I assumed she'd easily surpass 100k opening this time. It doesn't seem like RO will have its predecessor's staying power at this point either. I predict it'll be off the charts before Christmas unless there are rerelease plans.
Dula Peep Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I just hope she doesn't completely abandon the era and go on a permanent vacation she should amp up the promo instead, perform on late night and morning shows etc
mike_int Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Why are we concentrating on US sales only? Personally I would like to know WW sales number and not just US which hold 4% of world population

If you are selling a product you want to know how much you sell, overall. Anyway, there is no such chart so no need to discuss ;) moving on
