And yet everyone just streamed the 2 pop hits and bounced. Meanwhile Dua just released another europop album for the white gays to listen to in the luxury gym. A big US debut was just not in the cards. Was going boom bap a good thing? Absolutely not. And clearly the more crossover singles did better. I'm not debating that. I never wanted a boom bap album in the first place …100% expected this outcome for Scarlet. But we can't just skip over that she in fact DID do something different in majority of the album. Agora and PTTR performing better actually proves my point. If she did a sound for the whole album that's familiar to her audience, like Dua, she would've done better. Because come next album, what if the experimentation doesn't work for Dua? What she gonna do then? Her familiar sound ain't working either. 4
fridayteenage Posted May 4 Posted May 4 who can she hire for a remix to rescue the era, ice spice? she might have her number since they were both on the Barbie soundtrack
KKKIMO92 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Zero growth music wise from Dua and a 4 year break, people are not expecting her doing the same thing as four years ago and not as good. That's the reason for plummeting. I would say just move on from this album and get a new album next year, otherwise she will be the next Katy. 1 2
Smarticle Posted May 4 Posted May 4 This thread would have more pages and lashings if it was any other pop girl 1
omrimayo Posted May 4 Posted May 4 With around 600 versions of vinyls and cds and signed and not singed and every damn store has their own color and still… More variants = not more sales. I hope one day people here will understand that. 8

Into The Void Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It matches FN. I don't see how it's bad considering DSN was huge and the 3 pre release singles were not. It did very well in my honest opinion It will probably serve longevity too
Lightbringer007 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 hope she does more performances - thats also what helped with FN doing so well in the long run she always goes viral for her live performances

Expected to debut in the top 3 in the US with around 60,000 units. Lead single peaked in the top 15, third single peaked in the 40s. Second album opened to moderate numbers but had tremendous longevity and a repeak due to a re-issue. Bunch of collabs (including one with Calvin Harris) in between the albums. Last single prior to the album was a smash soundtrack single for one of the biggest movies of the year. Dua Lipa the female Ellie Goudling confirmed? 2 2 21

BornUnbroken Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I'm not a fan of hers, but this isn't terrible. She's never been a huge name to the general public (gays on twitter and music forums are not the general public) and she doesn't have multi-genre appeal across different musical audiences (like say, Ariana with R&B-pop). It seems like she's kept a stable streaming fanbase which is what these new artists should be aiming for alongside their touring. Other artists have opened with bigger numbers and can barely do theatre tours, and others have opened with lower and can do arenas. And there's no reason to compare her to the embarrassing downfalls of people like Katy Perry because she never reached their cultural peaks either. 1
State of Grace. Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Meh. She should have been debuting with 80-100k this time following FN and the tour that did pretty well in the US. The debut is not so terrible all things considered, but definitely a disappointing result. It could maybe pass FN's debut if her SNL promo works. 1 1
Galah Posted May 4 Posted May 4 A non-#1 debut after an era like Future Nostalgia is just tragic, I'm sorry.

Aethereal Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Those numbers are bad but not surprising. This is a little positive feedback since some of us were expecting less than 50K, not that it makes it any less of an underperformance though.
TROJAN Posted May 5 Posted May 5 7 hours ago, Ms. Togekiss said: Not terrible given the initial streaming numbers, but this just proves she has no fanbase, her music is faceless, and FN was a fluke and/or manufactured (we're all aware of how most of the songs were quite literally shoved down the GP's throat) @Hector why do you disagree?

Lorenzo22 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 i don't see this having FN longevity, the amount of viral tiktok that era's singles had was crazy.
