Ale Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It could be worse. This is actually decent/good considering the messy roll out of the entire era 1

Mariah4life Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) No excuse for these bad numbers. It's like Adele coming off of 21 into 25. The initial hype was real. Dua, on the other hand, I have no idea what happened. Zero hype. Edited May 4 by Mariah4life

Dialamba Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I expected worse and it's on par with scarlet. As long as the streams don't drop trough the week.

Aribiotch. Posted May 4 Posted May 4 This is why y'all need to stop throwing the title MPG around so easily…
Aribiotch. Posted May 4 Posted May 4 If your fave has never debuted over 200k or hasn't done it on multiple occasions, then she is not a MPG 4 3
Nashe Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Lol at the start of the era ppl expected her to pull 200K, I ain't forget! 3 2

Well, Doja did those numbers with a huge #1 smash hit fueling her, we've established Dua's singles underperformed in the US. Plus, Planet Her opened with 110k so Scarlet was a sizeable decline. RO on the other hand is basically repeating FN numbers. Not to mention Dua was never that strong in the US to begin with, so her situation is a little less draggable. 2 1

But after the HUGE success of the last album and the tour, she should be able to debut at least with bigger numbers. The fact she's predicted to do less after a blockbuster era that had very small debut numbers is bad and there's no way around it. I hope the numbers will go up to crack 70k, to at least beat FN's debut. She's not over though. She can still smash with a future album. Yes. FN is still big with the gp, I really hope she will smash in the future.

Rih had never done 200k+ up until Loud (in an easier climate) but she was a MPG long prior. Similar case, the moneys on longevity 5

We're not taking into consideration Doja went a completely different direction musically + image-wise. I know Dua says RO is "worlds different" (or however she phrased it) but I'm not hearing it, tbqh. It's not a FN re-hash necessarily, but it's not a huge departure either. If Doja did another PH I think the comparison would make more sense. 2

If Doja did another PH I think the comparison would make more sense. There is a case to be made that Doja's change of direction actually makes her flopation worse. She made a big fuss about switching gears to make a supposedly dark, serious, lyrical, pure hip hop album, the kind that is supposed to SELL as a body of work. And yet everyone just streamed the 2 pop hits and bounced. Meanwhile Dua just released another europop album for the white gays to listen to in the luxury gym. A big US debut was just not in the cards. 1 1
allforyou Posted May 4 Posted May 4 55-65K is ok I guess but I'm really hoping that those predictions rise and it manages to do Future Nostalgia, US Dua fans need to come together and stream the album non stop. A #2 peak would be amazing though.
